Not sure if someone's already posted this here, but I stumbled onto the gracenote database update (free) for the TL. Here's the link:

Its a must have update if you want your radio to be able to label your recent cd purchases. Other wise it just says track 1, track 2, etc. etc.

That annoyance along with the low bitrate of tracks ripped to the HDD convinced me to avoid using the HDD. Well okay, also because I would have to rip CDs one at a time with no way to upload from the USB port. Ridonculous, I tellya...

Hmm.... I wonder if the more recent 4G TL's with Tech already have this update? I have ripped CD's onto my HDD and it does show the track names already.

Yes they do get updated, I assume by the dealership when they are PDI'd.

- grace note up date done by the dealer during PD inspect? I doubt it - my car didn't even have the underbody plugs installed during it's PD inspect
