Gas Mileage

Yup, as others have said - SHAWD is your answer. And Yes, we do have a lead foot, it's a requirement with the SHAWD.

I have a feeling that I will settle in at 23.5 miles per gallon overall for the simple fact that there are things that are just too much fun to stop doing.
It has an impact on your legal daily driving.
I don't think most potential buyers understand that.

Wow 23.5... I do about 100% city during the week, rarely need to drive the highways, and I'll be happy in the summer to get the EPA estimated 18MPG, it's worse now with the crappy winter gas they give us up here - that and winter tires I'm sure adds to it.

Btw if the "worst" tank you've gotten is 23mpg, you're getting better mpg than most I4 honda accord owners. Not saying i don't believe you, just letting u know.
For comparison, i got 26mpg in my 2006 honda civic.. so yea i drive pretty quick.

Re-hello kingjoker, yes it's mostly flat in my area. I'm improving now, going down to sth like 12 - 12.5l/100km these days. Weather has been really nice in past couple weeks, going up to 10-14celsius, nice enough to cut the fan and open sunroof a bit. I've also mounted my mags on it, it should then improve on gas consumption. In general, I'm satisfied with the avg I get, considering the car we have. What is more frustrating is this yoyo game on the gas price, this is crazy, going (more) up & down by 10c/l almost weekly...

First tankful after driving my SH AWD from the dealership showroom, a total of 300 miles....all in city driving....17.2 MPG. Exactly what the sticker said. That includes about 20 minutes of idling while the sales person explained all the features.

Thx, dlarchev. The measurement thing is very clear. Like you said, there's no snow over here this year, even the Olympics needed to lay grass under their ski tracks. (cheers to the 14 golds!) I got my CBP AWD too just 3 weeks ago, driving 70-30 city/highway. need to find a way to be more fuel efficient and i am currently monitoring the instant.L /100 thing on the display. 16.7L / 100 km = sucking my entertainment money -_-''. There's quite alot of uphill downhill here, and may i ask if you have a flatter landscape in Quebec?

My MPG on the 2010 TL 6MT is an average of 20.9 with a best of 22.8 & worst of 19.6, I drive 85% city/surface streets. This is a cumulative average over the last 6 months/ 4500 miles.
I was getting better MPG with the 2006 TL 6MT. I was averaging 26.5 with a best of 31.7 and worst of 22.3.
A small trade off for the increased fun factor. And the cost per mile is only $.03 higher. I'm thinking the MPG will get better with the good weather and taking off the snow tires.
If you have an iPhone, the Gas Cubby app does a pretty nice job tracking your fuel & service expenses if you're into tracking that stuff. Here's a couple of screenshots with my MPG stats for the 2010 & 2006 TL.

Nice, now I need blackberry to have an app like that. Yes I like my gas mileage and yes I wish it was better as well. However, I'm getting 21.3 mixed just logging in over 500 miles. I drove about 200 miles the first two days of owning the car. I was just driving it for fun. And it was fun

None!
Friend of mine is long-time Service Manager and former mechanic.
He tells me that if you're primarily running flat 4 lane highway miles on a trip, there is no need to use the higher octane. Thought I'd try it?
He suggested 91 or 93 for everyday use, (commuting, etc) or if you are on a 2 lane or extremely hilly regions.
He also said to never to use any additives (STP, Seafoam, etc) in the first 20-25,000 miles and even after that, he doesn't think it's a good idea.
