First compliment today

I guess i have to share that I got my first compliment today of my TL while driving. I was stopped at a red light and an older gentleman pulls up next to me. I see him staring over at me but didnt think much of it. He then gives me the international sign for roll down your window and so i do. With a big smile on his face he starts yelling how amazing my car looks and starts asking me what it is and how many loans I had to take out to afford it. I laughed and told him what it was and he was shocked. Although the conversation only lasted about 15 seconds it feels good to know how much the TL really stands out and how "high end" it looks compared to so many others cars in the same price range. I must say I was pretty happy with how in shock he was and i guess it just made me feel even more proud to own this car. Now to just get some tints, brighter bulbs, and maybe a RJ grill if the bank allows, haha.

There's a lot of that going on these days. It's nicer over here than it is at my regular forums.

I work in the car industry so I want to know whats going on with all cars.
If I have someone cross shopping the new TL with the cars that I sell, I want to be able to know what I am talking about.
Looks are subjective , even the ugly girls get laid , just like the ugly cars get bought.. The TL used to be a great car for its price but times have changed.
While other companies are moviung foward I FEEL that Acura is going in reverse... You can get alot of GREAT AWD cars with just as much or even MORE options then the NEW TL SH-AWD that look alot better.. BUT LOOKS ARE IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER..subjective... When I was leasing my TSX they begged me to take the TL FWD for a little more monthly , I just could not live with that ugly face or rear end...

That makes no sense. An Acurazine newbie who joined today can browse just as much, if not more, as you.

As you said looks are subjective and I agree that the FWD TL is no longer as effective a product as it was not only for the drastic change in style but also because you can only go so far with FWD.

They hit the peak with the 3G TLS and while they were getting to that point and begining to push the limits of their FWD platform in 04-06, new cost effective technology was becoming available. The TL really advanced for that time frame and finished it off with the type s but there is not much more any brand can do with a car like that. That is why they have the SH. Looks aside, you cannot expect them to put so much into the FWD when it is now a base model.

On top of that the competition for this type of vehicle has grown while the market for it has gone down. It is no longer just the FWD TL, FWD A4, or the ES. Cars like the Maxima, the CC and the LaCrosse, taking Acura's lead, have come a long way and are open for consideration as well.

For someone in the business you should see that the SH model is a tremendous value. I don't care what kind of luxury AWD vehicle you look at nothing will match the TL SH's level of standard equipment, performance, refinement, reliability, safety, resale, size, space and comfort for it's price.

You could have also gotten the TSX V6 as that is a very similar car to what Acura offerd in the 3G TL but you opted for the 2.4 and there is nothing wrong with that but to suggest that looks alone are the only reason for you not getting the 4G TL when clearly price, gas mileage, or available 6MT had a big role in it too and maybe now you are just trying to justify that by bashing on the TL.
