The 2012 TL looks nice BUT it went from a car that looked like no other on the road, love it or leave it, to a car that resembles so many on the road. I suspect people like me will always prefer the last 4G iteration because we're not the character types that want to be part of any pack. No offense meant. I almost bought a Genesis but passed ultimately because the Genesis isn't authentic...it kind of looks like a MB, kind of a Lexus but is too ashamed to make a statement.

No shame in the 09-11 TL's game baby. Sensitive types who need to be complimented on their cars like its an extension of their intelligence, worthiness, and overall goodness, need not buy. Stay away. Not the car for you.

In the end I think we're dealing with really different personality types.

I basically am too old and experienced to care if people like me, my car, my house, ect. I'm living the life for me. And I like looking at my 2010. It makes the one statement I consistently care to make to the world...I'm with you but not of you. I'm going to make some noise and offend some people because I don't want to be everybody’s cup of tea.

I am purchasing my 4g TL tomorrow. I rushed to get it because I didn't want that new 2012 look that isn't so aggressive but it still is nice. But I like your post. Well said. But at the end of it all. A Acura TL is a Acura TL.

So, let's make this the "I HATE THE '12 BECAUSE: " thread or turn it into a poll like we have for the '09 - '11.

IMO, the '12 hasn't changed so much, only tweaked. I thought the '09- looks similar to other cars on the road, so other than the beak, it doesn't stand out THAT much.. again, IMO.

I think the Acura designers did a good job of accomplishing their goal - to make the TL's looks a bit less emphatic and polarizing. I also think sales will increase some.

That said, I prefer the look of the front of the 09-11s, but I do think the back of the '12 looks a little better than ours (but they need to put the quad tips back on the SH-AWD). I think the rear looks much cleaner - the reduction of the reflectors' size makes a huge difference.

Don't like the new 18" 5-spoke wheels. They look like the wheels that came on on our '98 Accord.

The only thing that I really envy on the interior changes is the song by voice feature for the Ipod. Sure wish we had that.

It seems like the next couple months on this board will be littered with 2012 vs 09-11 arguments. And all due to a handful of minor tweaks.

^ +10! No kidding. I can't argue much cuz I haven't owned a 4G.

I still don't see how the '12 is THAT much different.. sheesh, they did a nose and butt job on it.. that is really all that was done and then it wasn't a huge change, IMO.

Shame on Acura for wanting more sales!

ps -- I agree with the quad tips though. I like seeing what the car is froma distance, like the S-Type and current SH-AWDs

I'm more curious to see what the actual performance benefits of the 5spd vs the 6spd auto are. I'm also wondering if it will finally FEEL like it's going fast.

I hope that is due to the weight of the ZDX.

Its one thing i noticed almost immediately when driving the TL. Unlike the G37 and A5, heck even my 06 civic (felt peppy at low speeds), you don't feel the "Thrust" and it's a bit boring. Both the audi and infiniti give you this "pushed back into the seat" feeling when you're accelerating. Neither TL did that for me. For comparison. my gf's A5 feels like a rocket in S mode, even though it may not necessarily be faster.
