Cool Evo X to 2011 TL SH AWD

New to the site and to TLs. My name is Aaron and I am in the AF stationed at Ellsworth AFB, SD. I have owned quite a few cars but only one Acura a 98 ls Integra. I loved that car but traded it to get my first evo, a 2003 Evo 8. Traded the 8 in to get my Evo X back in 2010. It was brand new when I bought it and I did a lot of things to it but got tired of modding it and the whole evo game. I have a 19mo old and I wanted to get something that was a little more luxurious/quiet but I didn't want to lose the whole performance aspect. I traded my X in a couple weeks ago for a 2011 Acura TL SH AWD. Overall I am pretty happy with the trade so far, there are days I miss the X but that is to be expected.

Anyway since I owned the TL I have upgraded to 8k HIDs and put my sub in the back. Got to a few things to get it the way I want it. Probably not going to do much more but drive it.

Does anyone make a box besided the driver side molded one? I did a search but came up empty. I'd like to put a box against the back seats on that lip but didn't find anyone that has done that. Also I'm open to other ideas of what I can do.

Hope to be a asset to the forums and learn more info about the car and meet good people.

Welcome!

8000 KELVIN is hurting your visibility.
for the best visibility, go back to 4300 KELVIN.

also, why not custom build a box to fit on that lip, you were talking about?

That's exactly what I had done by a local shop, and I strongly recommend it so you keep the space in the back end of your trunk (especially for that stroller you'll be carrying around which is the reason I did it this way).

it also will help the sub sound better as you can build the box to the subs specs, instead of getting a pre-fabbed box that sound like poo.

I sold my '08 EvoX MR on saturday for the TL. The car is fun to drive and a beaut to look at. But the it is NOT reliable at all - not one bit. I'm loving my 6MT 2012 TL!

I know I lose some visability with the 8k but I like the look so I'm willing to trade. I don't drive the TL that much at all. I have a 2004 Honda Accord that gets most the miles.

I realy like that box you have. I will be doing something similiar....thanks for the pic. That's exactly what I was thinking. I'll get a custom box but just wasn't sure if there was something out there that was already made and ready to go in.

I never had a problem with my evo, it was the modding that caused the problems. Had a bad set of injectors and unreliable tune but the car itself never gave me an issue. I loved it but I guess I am just getting older and want to be pampered.

Maintenance wasn't that bad but I do all the work myself so never really costed much more than time and some fluids. I had a really cool dealer here too for warranty work was never an issue but I have heard horror stories.

Thanks for all the replies!

This is funny. My wife and I traded our 08 Evo X MR (Apex Silver) in on a 12 TL AWD Advance!! We never really had any reliability issues with the Mitsu, and like you said it was fun to drive but it's nice to be able to drive down the interstate at 80 mph and be able to hear and not feel like you'd been beaten up! Another thing is we won't be buying new tires every 8-10k miles. I will say one thing for the Evo, it did hold it's value fairly well. Enjoy your new TL!!

Thanks. I hear ya, it's nice to drive around a whole day and not pay for it the next. It was night and day compared to my Evo 8 but still a little rough. I miss it some days when I want to go out and tear up some roads but for the most part I am still very happy with my decision. The TL has some rattles and things that are driving me nuts but nothing the dealer can't fix when I take it in some time.
