Engine Rust

Ok, don't know too much about engines, but this doesn't look good. I've had my car for only 2 weeks. First picture is front of the engine with something like spark plug coming out of it. The bracket is all rusted, I wonder if they used subpar parts?

The second picture is another part that is rusting - right side of the engine with metal pipe connected to it.

Any ideas if there is a recall for this. Can you check your engines if you have same rust issue?

Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about that. Those parts are cast iron and will always rust. The first pic looks like your exhaust manifold and they part coming out is the O2 sensor. The second pic might be the EGR pipe.

Agree with Colin - It's normal. You'll also see rust on your cast iron brake discs after it sits in the damp humity for a while.

Brakes - that's normal, I just hate to see it on the engine, I wish they used forged aluminum for everything instead of making 2 parts out of crappy cast iron... maybe I'll give the parts WD-40 bath
