I attempted to remove them by lifting them up with light force but I have a feeling I may break/bend the plastic or the clips that hold them in place if I try any harder. I read the owners manual and it just tells you to just lift them up. How much force do you need to apply to remove them? Is there a technique in removing those plastic engine compartment covers?

 

they just lift right up. If haven't broken any clips yet.
