I too test drove a 2011 Genesis V8 and was not impressed in the least. While the car was handsome both inside and out, I thought the ride and handling left much to be desired. I was also surprised how much noise was in the cabin at highway speeds. A few days later I bought a 11 Tl/Tech. I do find the ride to be firm, but not to the point of being unpleasant. Some have commented on cabin noise, but I find mine to be quiet. I did not test drive an all wheel drive TL, so I can't comment on the difference.

Well, I'm glad to have 2 people corroborate my perspective. I liked the car a lot but the ride and the way it handled turned me off. Even my wife, no race car driver, noticed it and said she felt more secure in the TL. The TL ride is firm but it's balanced, fully grounded, and recovers nicely from bumps so it's not at all disturbing. The Genesis kept on bouncing. Other than that the Genesis is outstanding esp. the V8. But at the end of the day my value prop is in the ride and drive & the 6 cyl TL is smooth.

That's miles not dollars per set

In reading my post I realize that some might think that the tires cost 10K, obviously not so, they ran about 200-300/tire depending on the make, but despite keeping the tire pressure in spec and the car aligned, I could never get more than 12 k miles from the rear tires even with tires with a 400 tread wear rating.

godawgs, I hear ya on the 540...I had a '98 540 w/ sport pkg and it was the best riding/handling big(ger) car I have owned. The tires/balance/alignment were an issue as well....

Interesting to read all these opinions...I keep lurking in the Acura forums to keep up on what's coming down the pike with the TL...I really feel the value is there and I'd like to have a year round car this time around but the design put me off a little....if they can do an advance pkg or some kind of damper option on the mmc '12, along with a positive rework of the exterior, I am going to be very interested.

Hard Ride

I recently purchased an 09 TL 3.5 w Tech, and i was very disappointed with the ride, although, a friend of mine who own a new Mercedes said it rode nice, so either Im wrong, or mercedes ride like crap.

I have to agree, the AWD TL was harsh over sharp edged bumps. but the handling was great. The several BMW's I test drove (like the 335 is at just over $60 grand) was a step up in handling and went over the bumps very well. In fact my C6 vette with the F55 magnetic suspension will handle the sharp bunps better. Still love the Acura as a package.

I love the ride of my 2011 AWD. I have a 2006 TL which I gave to my son and Yes it is bit firmer than that but I would not describe it as harsh...this is a solid tight ride...it is a sports sedan not a family sedan. There is a world of difference between the FWD which rides like a family sedan and this car. The new FWD comes no where near the ride of my 2006, I thought it was soft. I bought this car for performance and handling (I live in the Northeast) I like cars that have a tight feel and was originally looking at small to mid-size SUVs so I guess for me it would not be considered "Harsh". This car is a blast to drive but everyone is different and you need to decide for yourself but don't degrade it, the car in the AWD versions gets very good reviews.

I don't mind it, but I can see where older folks would not like it.
Hey I am older and I resent that remark...I love the ride of my 2011 AWD TL
