I would assume that it is just like the previous generations especially since its a J series engine. Nothing special.

It is right near the front passenger's side wheel well. I do all my oil changes and its not done right unless you do it yourself.

When changing the oil, how often do you need to change the metal ring/washer?

i would do a visual inspection and decide for myself...i replaced the washer on my type s once in 8 oil changes, and even that seemed to be unnecessary...the new washer looked just like the used one...

its not a true "crush" washer as it doesnt compress as you torque the drain plug, so i dont see any real reason to change it...i think i got one at the local honda dealer for free the one time i replaced it...

It doesn't "crush" like a crush washer, but it does compress because it is a brass washer. Made to form to the imperfections of the mating surfaces. Yes, you should replace them every time as a preventative measure.

It's aluminum and you should replace it each time. Like Murky said, it conforms to the micro surface irregularities. Probably you'll get away without changing it but they only cost like 25 cents each so why risk a micro oil leak?

Hope your self oil change went OK?? Let us know!!

I got a coupon for Oil & filter change, under hood inspection, wash car, top off fluids AND rotate the tires for $69.00. I appreciate doing your own oil change, done that for years, but the tires should be rotated every 5K or 6K and I rather have someone else do that. Oil Indicator still tells me I have 40% life on the oil, but if I waited till it told me to do a service, it would be a year at least based on my 10K per year driving. Oil consumption was 3/4 of a quart the first 4K miles but for the last 2K miles, zero oil loss. Oil looks dirty now so in it goes on Friday!

whats soo hard about rotating tire....69 bucks for an oil change and a tire rotation is crazy...if you were my neighbor, i would do it for you...

Whether $69 is a rip or not depends on how much free time you have and what your free time is worth.
