De badge TL Logo Removal

I usually debadge all my cars. Take most or almost all of the logos off the back. Usually it's as easy as heating up the plastic with a hair dryer and peeling the raised letters off. Then a little adhesive remover, and the back fo the car is smooth!

On the TL, I removed the huge 'A' logo and was shocked to see two holes in the sheetmetal of the trunk.

Does anyone have a fix for this? Simple black plugs?

Thanks in advance.

i would say put the A back on...most folks who debadge leave that one on as for the reason you just found out....

if you want to do it right, you would need to fill and sand the holes, and respray the trunk...

Sounds like the first Honda/Acura you've debadged. The H or A is always attached with screws. I also left mine on also for that reason. Apart from getting a new trunk, I'm not sure another way around it. Definitely put it back on, everytime I see a car with those two holes in the trunk it looks

either put the A back on or buy bullet hole stickers and cover the holes...That would look PIMP!

I don't understand why some of you want to debagde the Acura logo. For me, I am proud to be an owner of the excellent brand vehical, I'd like to show it off to everyone. The big letter A is my favorite logo.

Yeah - center logos are a fixture...been that way since...EF Civics (late 80s early 90s) if I recall. Now you could change it out for a H logo off an Accord or something if you want to get crazy....

I think some ppl completely debadge the vehicle for a clean look. It also give other motorists something more to ponder when they stare at you vehicle to try and figure out the make. I have that just from removing the tl and shawd badges. Ppl are always asking me what model of Acura do I drive. Great conversation starter lol.

I agree with this and also cannot understand why you would take off the other letters such as TL, Acura, or AWD.

Debadging gives the car a cleaner look. Having the bright chrome emblems removed makes the back end a lot more pleasant to look at. Its not that we are tryin to get people to not know what car we are driving, just making it look good....... and succeeding

Exactly, the back is just way to cluttered with all the letters on the back.

Hmm, the average person is often left wondering, "what was that?" It's like a pro football team with no logo, save for the Browns...there helmet color aids in identification. I don't think you'll find a Porsche or Ferrari owner de-badging either of those models.

I debadged mine and just left the A in the center. Car does look a lot cleaner and it is so much easier to wash. The cotton from my wash mit does not get snagged on the letters.

I agree, it looks so much better without the ACURA TL SH-AWD on that tiny little space we call a back lid.
When you spend so much time on line and get every publication dedicated to anything with a motor, you realize that it amounts to free advertising for car manufactures. I hope you don’t still have the “fillintheblank” Motors license plate frames on your car!

That's okay. At least the Acura emblem is still there. However like I stated as with a Porsche or Ferrari I'd leave the model designation of on, in this case SH-AWD on too.

All Porsche Models offer a free (one of the only things they don't charge you extra for) feature straight from the manufacturer called "model designation delete," it is factory debadging of your car. Many of the folks who buy the higher end 911s and Cayennes have it done so those who don't know the cars well can't tell what trim it is.

That's one of their best features. If I ever got a boxter spyder, I would have that "deleted" (Not really a delete, they just never put it on) from the model, too wordy for the back of that ride.

I think the whole idea is just to keep the car looking clean without the clutter of model and trim badges. Yeah of course they are gonna come on the car from the manufacturer but if Acura gave the option of badgeless I guarantee a lot of people would have opted for it.

It also gives the wonder affect to the car. I had a group of teenagers walking around my car while I was eating and watching from a distance as they are trying to figure out what model of Acura it was. Brings a lot of attention rather than just seeing it on the car and walking away. Not exactly the intention but a fun factor

I get folks walking around my car..yesterday at the park a few guys playing ball asked what was it. At the fresh market I was asked it that the new Acura. When stopped at a traffic light I was asked what TL is that? then at a sports bar three ladies asked me what was it and asked to peek inside. I don't adore badge clutter, but for me if it's non describe it's generic, I don't do generic. I am more apt to walk away and figure oh well...I guess I'm of the club that's so '80's.

Im sorry but you have me confused. If you have people asking you what kind of car it is after walking around it and it is clearly labeled, then there are stupid people around you. Not having a description is generic???? In what way? If a guy debadges his Ferrari is it now a generic car???

No one is asking you to debadge your car, but to say that debadging generalizes a car is just ignorant.

Depending where you park folks don't walk to the rear of the car. There are no emblems on the side. Generic like peanut butter with a black and white label reading peanut butter. The Ferrari crest is a work of art, why remove it? I have a friend who has a Bentley and I can understand having the emblem sink into the hood, so cool. When I'm on the go I'm looking but not up to finding Waldo. I've heard the comment made about Lotus that was de-badged, "What is it?" I knew, but the other 5 didn't. Some Ferrari's, Pantera's. and Lambo's as well as Maz's share similarities....If I'm a Maz-man I don't someone thinking I'm pushing a Ferrari.

It's not ignorant, just a difference of taste and view

I dont believe anyone here was referring to removing the "A" as much as they are referring to removing the TL, ACURA, and SHAWD (if they have it) I would never remove the "A" just as I would never remove the Crest or Emblem of any car I owned. I think that a little overboard.

If that is what you are referring to then I can now understand why it would make a car generic. And if so, my apologies.

Get with the program dude.

On a serious note, I like the A because of both the Holes, as well as ensuring people from behind know its an Acura. The other emblems look cleaner debadged.

No problem Murky. The first time I saw the Acura emblem way back when I thought it was slick...of the Japanese upscales it actually, IMO, works better that the others. It's an engineering tool incorporable into an A, slick. I mean Infinti looks like Pac-man eating on his way down the maze and Lexus reminds me of an elbow or a botched fantastic 4 logo.

Yeah, I gazed upon it again...I could get use to it. It's like a Brazilian wax job on a kitty (Non-technokitty kind), sweet, lol.
