Daytime running light question

I am wondering if you guys can help me with this. For the 2010 TL, I know that DRL is standard. However, is it on at all times, or can it be switched off?

I know that the for Canadian spec cars, it must be on at all times, but how about the US spec vehicles? Is it on at all times, no matter what setting it is at?

Same way. It turns on automatically. Unless you have your E-brake up your DRL will be off only during when you first start your car until after you drop the E-brake the DRL will turn on.

There is a fuse you can pull that will disable DRL. Search the forum. I have mine disabled by pulling the fuse. I hate DRL. BTW there will be no error messages when you do this.

I just pulled my fuse, its on the passenger side under the glove box. Check the manual for which fuse. I forget which one it is. It does not cause your DRL to come on.

Idk I just leave mine. It has its pros. Did you know you can get a ticket for using your wipers with no lights on? LOL my friend got one of those. Funniest thing ever. But it also allows others to spot you better when you're on the roads.

Why would you disable this safety feature? It's not like you can see them running when you are driving.

I wish we could have HID drl's. I think that would satisfy the select few's needs to turn off the drl's.

IMO its pointless to have HID DRL. They're not much brighter than regular in the daytime. Don't they run at 60% of their brightness?

Not for functionality, because they're not necessarily functional to begin with, othen than for opposing drivers to see you. The HID's would be more for looks than anything else. But would be pretty functional when you turn your brights on.

I can see them in reflections....dont like how they are "light wannabees"...barely on but enough to look sleepy eyed..haha. If you think you are unsafe, you always have an option to turn your lights on. Wouldnt that be better?

Well, I had to neutralize your "+1" then I had to penalize you for your error...so net is "-1".

All drivers are different. It's whatever works for you. I don't like to do too much flashy mods. I dislike cops..(won't get into details). My DRL's are on only during the day so I don't need them to be brighter. But I guess it would look nice if you really want them. Just my opinion.

Net would be infinity -1 lol.

Eazy- it isn't the need or want of brighter DRL's I think its the want of a different color from the standard halogen bulb that's used by lower class vehicles like toyota corollas (not knocking on corolla owners by any means) I would think that having a different temperature DRL would set the TL apart from the rest of the halogen DRL users just as Audi has done with their choice of lighting for the DRL's.

This is the first car I've ever owned with DRL's, so I'm not sure where I stand on this. I think as others have said it's more for safety reasons.
It would be nice if they looked more like the Audi's lights. It is what it is. I don't think I would disable them. Just my take on it.

I put in Luminics Ultra White 5150K DRL/High Beam bulbs and they look great. They are very white and when the brights are on they match the HIDS. The drl's have a nice super white look during the day.

Did anyone maybe find a decent set of LED replacement bulbs that could be used in the high beam that would also work as DRLs?
