It was a cold foggy night...

Yeah, it was cold and foggy last night in LA, and I was anxious to try out the TL in the canyons of LA, especially that really winding road that dumps you at the beach! (hint hint) Well, I was not out to speed around and gun it, this was more of just a feel drive as she only has 408 miles on her, but on the way back through the canyon some ass wipe was tailing me. Now I was all about cruisin' until this jerk wad got on my nerve. Soooooooo, I gunned it around a few turns that I knew very well and lost him for a 1/2 a mile then eased up, sure enough he was back tailing me again. Christmas Vacation flashback with Chevy Chase driving...LOL

Anyway, once out of the canyon this moron pulled up next to me at a signal, and sure enough it was an older Audi Black A4...LOL The kid driving the car was in his mid 20's, and his a-hole friend about the same, and they rolled down their window and shouted, "your car is ugly dude..." I just laughed and smiled as he screeched his tires and pulled away. At the next stop light, about 2 minutes later I pulled along side of him and asked him "was that you that I left in the canyon for about a mile...?" They wanted to race after that but I just laughed again, and took a alternate route home so they couldn't find out where I live. You gotta love that...

They almost suckered me in, but then I realized I have responsibilities and racing isn't smart on city streets, plus my car is not broken in yet.

Actually I don't? I have the 3.5 plus tech package, but I really know how to drive that canyon road, it was my old work route for 5 years and I did it practically in my sleep. It just goes to show you even a faster car doesn't beat an experienced driver, especially on a familiar road.

Hey bmode, are you talking about Las Virgenes Rd./Malibu Canyon Rd? I used to live in Calabasas (20 min NW of LA) 2 years ago and that road has to be the most awesome stretch of 2-lane highway anywhere in the US. The views while driving on that road remind you of scenes from the movie, "Lost"......the curves and hairpin turns on that road was the most fun I ever driven on when I had my IS350.

Ah Pete you sly dawg, you knew!!! Actually, I took the 101 to Kanan Rd then south over the mountains and down to PCH, then took Topanga Canyon back. That's my familiar test drive route for cars. I test the power going up Kanan Rd, and the handling through Topanga Cyn. It's really got some curves on it!

PCH was socked in with fog, it was really creepy with no one on the roads, then again it was 12 am. I had the defroster on the whole time on PCH and it wasn't working to well to be honest. The fog lights could be brighter or panned out wider for more road coverage as they did very little in that thick soup. XM reception was perfect though the canyons, not one interruption of service. Too bad the programming sucked for that hour of driving. Damn Sirius merger ruined my favorite stations. Camel pooh!

Well, it looks like you have your very own Nurburgring in your own backyard, bmode. BTW, do you live in the Valley, bmode? Man, I miss California....esp. this time of the year. I don't miss the traffic on the 101 and 405, but I absolutely miss the weather and the beaches. On weekends when I lived in Calabasas, I would take Malibu Canyon Road and go south and take in all the incredible views all the way down to PCH and Malibu, past Pepperdine University (are those students lucky SOB's or what?). There's that great little seafood shack in Malibu, right off PCH that's always crowded and has a parking lot filled with Ferrari's and Lambo's on weekends.....what's it called?

No, Gladstone's is near Pacific Palisades. The one I'm talking about is in North Malibu, right near the Malibu public beach off the PCH......it's just a small shack with only outdoor seating.

Technically, Gladstone's is in Malibu as the address dictates that, but he must be talking about further north by the pier. I wouldn't know as I don't like Seafood, except for a Caesar salad, but I always get chicken with it, LOL.

Hey mods, is Pete really banned?

Pete, you are asking about Neptunes Net, a great place to go on a beautiful day, it is up on PCH near the LA and Ventura county border. bmode, nice story thanks for sharing. I am about to turn in my 2005 TL for a 2009 TL with Tech pack sometime in the next week and I couldn't be more excited about it. I am looking forward to driving either Topanga, Malibu or Kanan in the very near future.

That's kinda the way I felt, as I've always liked Audi's and the way they looked, but hate the driver true! I just have seen them in the shop way too much, and to match what Acura has to offer, I would of spent about $6k-8k more! Plus I'm driving something no one has around here yet!

Yo Industry71, welcome to the party! I'm excited for you, what a great car! Are you considering the SH-AWD? I kinda wished I'd held out 2 weeks for one as I can't stand the stock rims on the FWD, but I didn't feel like paying $4k for rims and tires, and 17" is just too small with the big 50 profile Mich's for me, oye! It's a nice ride, but I'm moving to 19" rims with possibly 255/40's. I had my grill and bumper painted by the dealer, and it's a must for my eyes.

Hey guys, I think we lost Pete'sTL?

He is okay in my book defending his car like the rest of us, but I saw a thread where he (rightfully so) flamed another poster who only seemed to bash the 4G, and he requested for a mod to step in. Something must of happened regarding that? No mod has posted anything yet, they may not want to comment on it I guess...

Oh, that's too bad. First rule of online interaction on message boards: Don't take anything personally.

Let's hope cooler heads prevail from now on. Not only online, but on the road as well.

Good on you that you didn't fall for the bait that the guys in the A4 set for you. Street racing is really not cool.

True that, I should of pulled over and let him pass initially, but it was fun zippin' around a few corners on that road! Tail gating is really annoying and I wish the law would step in once in a while, it's worse than normal speeding IMHO.

This is kind of on-topic.

I had a cold foggy morning today and so I snapped some shots of the C63. They're not perfect, the photos, but I thought I'd share one of them with you guys here.

I agree- Pete is ok (in general) in my book too. You'll see him back on the boards shortly as it was a temp ban.

Really nice photo, the black AMG looks great in the fog/mist at that angle.

Gorgeous ride Sebring. (i was going to ask you to please post a few pics the other day).

The lines flow so nice on that car. I saw one last week here in Calgary. They are hard to get i hear (at least in Canada).

Did you order yours awhile ago?? What part of Van are you from??

It would be fun driving that on the Sea to Sky Highway on a quiet day. Although with Vancouver prepping for the Olympics in 2010 i am sure there is construction everywhere now.

Yeah, I think that when Pete defended the car and his purchase decision, he tended to throw in a personal 'barb' at the end of each comment. I even suggested to him, that those kinds of comments did not help him argue his case.

Actually, I did put in an order for a Tenorite Grey, but just a week after I placed the order, the dealership called and said they had a Black one where the purchaser cancelled. The dealer said if I wanted it, I could have it. I checked it out, it was exactly what I wanted (except the colour, but Black was my second choice anyway), so I bought it. Otherwise, I would have been waiting till at least February.
