Carbon Fiber Dashboard Kit

I just went and ordered the basic kit if anybody's interested. I'll post up pictures as soon as I get the kit and apply it. I'm suppose to be getting the kit on May 8th.

Geez. I dont think it would be such a good idea to put those stickers in a luxury car.
I had brushed aluminum in my Accord, but that was an Accord. Those stickers noticeably look like stickers when you put them on. I think it would work more negatively than positively in the TL.

The link is only for the wood grain dash kit. There is no option for carbon fiber. However, I agree w/Cornelius......those fake add-ons don't look good and cheapens the interior.

The interior is ALREADY carbon-fiber styled lol. It's not actual carbon fiber, but with the dimpled metallic look, it looks just as cool. Leave it alone!

I'm interested in seeing the finished job. I installed a carbon fiber kit on my S2000. I received a ton of thumbs up. Not sure whether I would want to do the TL but I am interested.

ya does this kit cover up the existing carbon fiber? or are you now going to have 2 different cabon fibers between the dash and console area?

Warning! Do NOT put this in your car, until you check it next to the existing trim under several different types of light!!!

We tried this company's "plood" (fake plastic wood) on an 04 TSX, and in daylight it looked OK, but under night fluorescents it was like dirty mud. They don't use titanium dioxide inside their pieces (but Acura does), which affects how they respond to different wavelengths of light.

Good luck!

Yea I'll have two different tones, it doesn't cover up the existing carbon fiber in the interior..Steve did it and that's where I got the idea from. Check out the pictures in his thread, looks pretty good..

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/acura-tl-nose-carbon-fiber-logo-720483/

Hmm I hope its not as bad as it sounds, seems like Steve is extremely happy with his purchase.

Guys, yes, I am VERY happy with my Carbon Fiber kit. Yes, I knew that it was not real Carbon Fiber, but the existing materials that comes on the car stock are so dark that you can't tell the difference between the threads in the Carbon Fiber. If you look at the pictures in the link Iceman posted above, you'll see my interior kit. Please realize that those photos were taken with a flash activated on the camera so yo can REALLY see the difference in the threads.

It is a HUGE improvement over the stock stuff that comes in the car. The fit was perfect and I do not feel that it diminishes the look of the interior.

Just a quick update! I got the carbon fiber dash kit yesterday and I applied it too! I will post up pictures as soon as I can but there's a few things I don't like about the kit and I'll go into details. Still gotta call the company to complain about it and hopefully get something out of it.

Other than that, it actually looks really good even though its just a sticker =P

I think it looks alright. The one part that bothers me is the center console....the kit makes the already busy console stand out even more and look more chaotic. The shifter area and steering wheel look real good, though.

Actually the couple things (2) I didn't like about it turned into 1. The center rear air vent was so thick that I couldn't open the center glove box..but I fixed it by moving the overlay down like quarter of a mm..literally..and it was able to be opened.

The 2nd thing is where the "Passenger Airbag" logo is, there is an overlay for that but they didn't do a good job making it because it covers most of the label. I'm hoping they can get that fixed for me as I actually like it up there. Without it it looks empty.

I actually agree with you on this but I luckily I know where the controls are so I don't think it'll be too bad to adjust to as I do like the way the carbon fiber looks. The shifter area is my favorite!

I'm still debating if I should leave the carbon fiber overlay where the Acura symbol on my steering wheel..

Too busy for me and takes away from something I already like. I think a solid color black or grey finish would of been better, now it really looks busy.

Iceman, you were possibly one of the first ones to order it. They would probably appreciate your feedback and input.

Nice job, this turned out much better than I had envisioned. Not really my thing, but I am glad it worked out well for you.

Is it possible to get a picture of this stuff with fluorescent lighting, like you might have in a garage, or perhaps at night on the street? That was my problem. The dash kit loooked fine under daylight (except for the glossy, plasticky finish), but at night it turned a sickly shade of mud.

From my experience with chemical coatings, an analysis showed they did not use titanium dioxide in the plastic mix as a whitener. So this was never going to appear like the Acura trim.

I think this install looks pretty good in these pictures, but I'd hope the next person considering a kit weigh carefully how different lighting may interact with the stuff.

So I finally got a camera! I'll be able to post some hawt pics!

jginnane - I took these pictures with the overhead lights on (they are fluorescent) along with the flash.

Oh and I decided to rip off the main dash carbon fiber since I find it too busy as well..and it looks really good! Waste of money but oh well =()

I used to have this type of kit on my accord and I know exactly how these look.
Im sorry, but it makes the car look cheap. There is so much contrast between the
stickers and parts next to the stickers. Also, it is obvious that it is a sticker because
it is so thick.

Cornelius, you are entitled to your opinion. But I too have this currently on my Type S and really love the look. Iceman-YES, it does look good in real life-I agree with you. Look, you've made the commitment to the kit, you like the way it looks...Enjoy !!! And I think the car looks better with the kit in it. The OEM carbon fiber is a joke-you can't even tell the difference in the two threads in the carbon fiber.

Again, Iceman-from a fellow Acuraziner who paid the money (like you did) to have it in the car....don't think twice-enjoy your purchase.
