Hi guys, my 09 auto shawd has been sitting a while, I started it every once a while, last time I attempted starting the car, it started, but quickly shut of, now it just cranks but doesn’t want to start. It has spark, I changed the fuel relay and still nothing. When I turn on the car I can hear the fuel pump activate before I try to start it. Any suggestions on what to check next? TYIA

Did you change out the battery (supposed to be done every 5 years I think)? If it's turning over it might not be the alternator or starter IMO.

You need air, fuel, spark and timing. Could be cam or crank sensor? Any codes?

how long is a while? Gasoline goes bad over time; you might have to drain and refill if it's been a LONG time.

Well you do all the basics off things you do when a car won't start... But if it was sitting maybe a rodent ate some wires

I added fuel treatment, also tried to spray throttle cleaner in the air intake. Still nothing

Yes I have a brand new battery, the car turns over like it wants to start but it doesn’t fire up. I’m not pulling up any codes either

Os there a main fuse in the underhood fuse box that's blown?

I checked all of them but I will check again

not all carb cleaners work well to act as starting fluid. Try again with starting fluid and see if it works.

Maybe a midge flew into the MAF sensor

I was testing the fuel pump using a scanner, and when I tried to run the fuel pump, I received a message saying “ the ECU did not respond to the command correctly” when I scan the ECU I’m not getting any faults and also I can hear my fuel pump turning on when I press the start button without trying to crank it over. Any ideas?
