Can my key FOB be painted ?

My new to me 2012 TL car is perfect, inside and out. However, the Keys it came with look like they have been stuck in wolverines pocket. :/
There are all scratches on them and the silver paint on each side is all chipped up. Is there a paint for the keyfobs, for the silver parts ?

I did mine in carbon fiber wrap.
Did a crappy job but still looks better than being all scratched up.

I would recommend vinyl. I'm sure the paint would just come off again over time. I know I've seen a CF wrapped key fob on here at one point...looked pretty good.

thanks guys. Ill try the carbon fiber wrap. As long as that doesn't interfere with the wireless functionality.

It is starting to look a bit beat up now. The next time I do it, i am going to clear coat it.

Relatively cheap and easy solution:

Acura Keyless Remote Jacket (acurl34) - thejacketstore.com, LLC

I have one of these on my 06 fob and it hides any paint damage.

Acura makes the worst keyfob ever...

No problems with signals... at least none that I have experienced.

This is what I have really got it to quickly tell the two fobs apart. It works fine although the carbon fiber wrap does look nicer.

NOTE: I tried to insert URLs / links to the products i found..and they didn't seem top work well.. if you roll over the links below they look like they light up and you can follow them...

the site is

www.aliexpress.com

i just searched for acura TL key fob leather....found a ton of stuff

i haven't ordered one yet.. but was thinking of ordering this one... my key is totally scraped to death too...

Genuine Leather Automotive Remote Control Bag For MDX RL TL RDX ILX NSX TSX ZDX TSX RSX RLX key Bag Key Case-in Steering Covers from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

they also make this one

Genuine Leather Key Case For MDX RL TL RDX ILX NSX TSX ZDX TSX RSX RLX key Bag Keychain-in Mounts & Holder from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

another

Leather Automotive Remote Control Bag For BMW X1 X3 X5 X6 Z4 M1 M3 M4 M5 M6 M8 E70 E71 E90 E91 E92 E60 E93 key Bag Key Case-in Mounts & Holder from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

this one looks like there is a clear window on the back if you want to see/access the buttons..

i'm sure this is mass mad in China type stuff..but every once in a while i order somethign like this and it turns out to be decent.. I bought aluminum pedals that were made in china stuff and they were cheap and look/work GREAT...

given how horrible the OEM key fobs look after normal use.. this has to be better!

if anyone orders one before I do, post up how it looks when you actually get it

That looks acceptable. Looks to me like his key has a lot less going on on the key fob which makes it a lot easier.

Not to make excuses but I probably could have done a better job if I wasn't working on this sitting on my bed when I was doing this.

Just make sure you have a nice sharp knife and to pre-stretch the wrap. Once pre-stretched, when you apply heat, it will shrink back up to give it a good fit.

I thought about re-doing this but I thought it was acceptable as well.

I did mine with CBP tough up paint. Stinks horribly now, and its already starting to chip. I am not still enough to do dare to the wrap. Oh well.

Take a heat gun to the Carbon Fiber wrap-it will flatten down the rough edges.

It's just a wrap.
It will peel off if you are not happy with the results. Give it a shot

assuming you could just use nail polish remover to strip the paint off the remote right?
