Buying a 09 dealer loaner?
Most of the 09 TL's I have been looking at recently have been "dealer loaner" cars. Has anyone here had experiences with buying a "loaner" from a dealer? I am kinda hesitant due to the wear and tear they might have had but they are a few thousand dollars cheaper. Let me know your thoughts please! Thanks!

Just did, last month. It was loaded with stuff, had only 3k miles, and I got an eight year xtended warranty to alleviate my fears of who might have been driving it how. I'd say go for it and if you're like me, sleep the night with an xw.
Good luck!

Same here, bought mine from a dealer with 3K miles on it, no problems, got a pretty decent deal. If i had known, i would have looked harder for 6 speed manual, but i doubt they have any of those that they loan out. Good luck!

It is a 09 loaner with about 14k miles on it. Getting it for about 2k less then a similar trade in model. I am just real hesitant on getting a car in which so many people have driven throughout the past year

personally, i'd NEVER buy a loaner.
I mean, do you baby any rental cars you come across?
it's possible you're buying a car that has been pushed to its redline for 14,000 miles. Not saying i'd do that to a rental/loaner.. but just letting you know it happens.

Our 09 was a loaner car with 14k miles. Now 17k miles, no issues. Been a great car. Dealers like Acura, Lexus, etc all have owners that do not RAG out the loaner cars. They aren't rentals. They are loaners and most owners do not rag them out. I have never done it myself. We saved a bunch getting one, like 8k off MSRP.

I think you can get the dealer lower! Apply Pressure! You can get a better deal out of 'em!

Is it that much saving over new.. Do they register the cars?
Would the dealer loaner qualify for the special apr and dealer incentives that Acura gives the dealers to push new cars?
It might be cheaper but then if you get bank rate it might work out the same as getting a r eal good deal on a new one with acura's special apr..

If you have doubts, don't do it. It will always be in the back of your head. Spend the extra cash and get it new, especially with .9% interest.
Chances are the interest alone will save you a few grand.

I'll admit i'm just guessing.... you know.. based on how most people i know treat loaners/rentals. It's a common practice really, get a car that isn't yours? have fun with it! drive the crap out of it since you won't need to deal with the long term maintenance, then just give it back when you're done.
If you want to buy used, my suggestion is to look for a private seller that actually owned the car. People tend to take care of things they own.
then again you're buying an acura, should be reliable either way

People who buy Luxury cars aren't kids. So they usually aren't Ragged out. And IMHO, a lot of people DON'T take care of things they own and you take a chance getting a car from someone that may have not taken care of the car themselves. The dealer has service records, they maintain their own fleet. So you know it was maintained.

So you're saying people that buy luxury cars don't like to have fun with their cars?
Whatever you say to help you feel better about your purchase i guess. Personally, I wouldn't want to take that kind of risk. You always get what you pay for.

^^ yea you are right, you get what you pay for. Buy a car with no history from someone or buy a car from the dealer that has history. And no, not many who buy luxury cars rag them period.

Also, I wouldn't say I rag my loaners/rentals out, but I would have to say I'm definitely not easy on them and I've been known to drive a few luxury cars to places I shouldn't...like onto the beach or into a field (not mudding.) The most recent adventure was a 2009 Lexus LS460 going to Destin beach, FL from Dallas, TX that took 8hrs and some change (do the math.) When I say going to the beach, it was parked on the sand next to the volleyball court for our entertainment pleasure.
On the other hand, my TL (and other cars) are babied. I still have my 1995 MR2 with original paint and interior.

Where are you located and what was the original price on the car? I am driving down tomorrow morning to the D.C./N VA area to look at 4 TL's just off loaner, 14k miles, website says $31,500....
