Exclamation Blind Spot

AcuraZiners,

Has anyone noticed that there is a significant blind spot on the left when cars are passing. I have adjusted the mirror out but there still seems to a blind spot. Any suggestions??

i kind of see it (or, don't see it lol), but there's a correct way to adjust the side mirrors

i'll adjust it later to see if the blind spot is still there

Lots of modern cars seem to have that.

Every car has blind spots, that's why you're supposed to glance over your shoulder when switching lanes. Or if you're the fastest driver on the road you don't need to worry about cause no one will be in your blind spot.

My left side mirror is adjusted more towards the left to see more of the left side. The right side I can glance at my rear view + side view to make a lane change right

Try adjusting your outside left mirror this way: put your head on the driver's door window and adjust the mirror until you can just see your rear fender.

It feels a little weird at first, but once you get used to it, it's a much safer position. It eliminates the blind spot (that exists on all cars) to almost nothing.

I've always been told to adjust the driver's side mirror to where you see the driver's door handle in the bottom right corner of the mirror. With a slight head bobble, I don't have to turn and look (and also I accelerate when making lane changes.)

I use this method to adjust my mirrors.
No blind spot
cars appear beside me immediately as soon as they disappear from my mirrors

Yep, that's it. It takes a little getting used to this set up, but once you do, blind spots largely disappear.

What I do is similar to the pdf file above but I don't lean either direction but I sit like I normally would while driving and then set both mirrors so that I can't see any of the sheet metal of my car but just the road lane both ways. Its worked so far, knock on wood.
