I'm thinking which body kit that I should pick for my 2012 6sp SH-AWD.

Will the RonJon kit fit the 2012? Definitely make sure before you purchase...

 

Not sure there is a fitment for the 2012's yet. The side sills may fit though.

 

go OEM, its just the best route. i can see the rear growing on me, even though it is pretty weird looking

 

As I look the RJ Kit front lip should fit, but not sure the back buz the 2012 Tl rear bumper changed little bit.

Stew4HD......be honest the rear lips look really funny, but not too bad. Should design wrap around

 

It's hard to imagine how they could do the rear better because the license plate area gets in the way.

 

well they did it on the 09-11

 

Ummm, they changed the position of the license plate area for the '12, leaving no area , really, to add anything...? I dunno

 

Stew4HD....I am about to get my 2012 BWP SH-AWD Tech shortly and have looked at your photos for inspiration for the bodykit. Like you, not a HUGE fan of the back but not enough to stay away from it. Your car looks amazing and can't wait to see mine in the flesh and hopefully, it will be enough to make me say...I am buying it! I have seen one TL with the aerokit but in that silver (bluish) color and looked great in person and better than the photos you posted and suepected that yours look better in person too than in the pics...would you agree?

Oh....really a hard to pick!! RJ doesn't make for 2012 yet....hopefully they will!!

 

Decisions, decisions.....

 

The back does look odd at initial glance, but you do get used to it. I wonder how hard it would be to mold the line into the body so it just looks like a beefy bumper and not an add on.
Also white is pretty unforgiving, on a black one it wouldn't be as pronounced.

 

Hey Stew4HD....just curious, when you had your bodykit put on, had you considered only placing the front and side skirt and not the back? I am wondering if that would make the car unbalanced. I will see the car without the kit on first so I can make my decision on buying or not buying. What sucks is that they don't carry the kit in stock so I can't see only parts of the kit on and see if having the front and side skirt would make the car unbalanced. I will put the side molding too as well....I went with the tech model without the ventilated seats option...beleive it or not I am on that prefers the 18" inch wheels better then the 19" (and I hate the goodyears!)

I am so excited to see the car in the flesh....

 

^ Well, when I got mine, there were really no other '12's around and none with the kit. The first time I saw my car was with the kit installed.

I think the Kit will have no one keep it in-stock!!! Most likely have to special order.

 

I have a crazy idea for the rear lip. Is it possible to swap the rear bumper to 09-11 model to fit the RJ kit on?? Just don't know will the 09-11 bumper fit on 2012 chassis??

 

Good idea, there are 3 versions of the 4G TL, one with OEM 2009-11 kit, One with RJ kit and one with OEM 2012 kit. Each is very different.

I don't like the '09-'11 rear bumper compared the '12. The redesign adds that "ridge/body line'" that breaks up the long/flat section of the corners, from the bottom edge of the tail light down.. but that's just me, I guess.

That said, I am not sure about the fit of the '09-'11 bumper on the '12. That metal trim piece below the trunk (boot) lid is larger on the '09-'11. It could be an expensive experiment to find out ... but I am all for someone trying it...

 

We have an 09 bumper in our facility, if anybody with a 12 TL wants to go by and test fit, even see what is needed for the RJ kit to work regarding the front and rear, they are welcome to swing by with a scheduled visit. It's in South Gate CA.

 

^i'm pretty sure it will since acura has not made huge changes on the tl 12 but changing the style of the bumpers a bit.

Regarding the new style of the tl, i don't know about you guys but to me it looks like a car for old people jajajajaja i like the 09-10 style better, not the grille though.

 

WHAT??? I am guessing you have never seen a '12 or even one next to a '09-11.. to say it is like a car for old people is pretty damn silly, really.

 

If the RonJon fits, I say go for that. It just makes the car look so aggresive. IMO

 

Honestly, I think the RonJon body kit puts the Aspec Kit to shame......just sayin'.

i have seen the 12 at the dealer, i like the car but not as much as the 09-11. i was merely making a joke since i heard my friend saying that (he has a tl 10). I like your ride, and what you have done to your car as well. but again the 09-11 looks better to me

 

I agree.. too bad that it's not available for the '12. If I was in CA, I'd drop my car off for some experimentation!

That RJ kit makes me wanna get rid of the "S" and get a 4G just for that kit. Along with the grille it makes the car stand out more overall
