Body kit, mud flaps, or nothing?
I have a 2009 TL SH-AWD. WHen I bought it, it had no kit, no mud flaps. It has the OEM 19" wheels.
I've lowered it on H&Rs. Now that it's lowered, it looks like so,ething is missing to me.... It needs either the body kit or the mud flaps...at least that's what I sense.
I'm curious what the consensus is here on AZregarding the kit vs mudflaps, or going "commando" and not having either?
I personally like the OEM aero kit...although I'm not really excited about shelling out close to $1000 to get it. Mudflaps are what...$100?
My car is WDP. Any pics of a lowered car with OEM mudflaps? I've seen plenty of WDP cars with the lip kit.
I tempted to do the flaps...and the if/when I want to add th body kit, to swap them out.
How cheap can I get the body kit? From what I've seen online, I'm thinking it's at least $800. Anyone seen it cheaper?
BTW... Loving these H&Rs!

I'm a mud flap (and body side moulding) fan. Although, the body kit for the '09 - '11 TL is a nice looking and fitting kit.

It's unanimous....go for the kit.

I really like the looks of the kit and it seems like it does not sacrifice ground clearance all that much. However, I live in the NY metro area and have scraped the bottom of the front on couple of occasions coming off on some driveways and it pains me.
I plan on getting the kit someday but will have to wait until the new car novelty wears off on me. Until that time... its commando for my car.

I am considering wheels spacers to push the wheels out and get it more flush..that would do quite a bit to improve cosmetics..but I"m unsure if it would be bad for the car? I don't really want to modify my lugs..if there was somethign that would bolt onto my hub that had it's own built in lugs..so that it was easily removable if I dind't like it - I'd seriously consider it..
and ALSO do the body kit!

Spacers will make it look a lot better,if you do the kit before the spacers it looks like there is a lot of overhang since the kit adds some width to the car.
Check page two of this link to a member who added spacers to his car, made a huge improvement in the looks imo.

Another vote for bodykit.

Have you removed the deflector? I feel like I always scratch it because the roads in Los Angeles are crap everywhere. But without it I feel kind of naked cause sometimes I use it to percieve depth when parking lol

There are some online Acura dealers who specialize in parts and take about 25% off of the list that your local dealer will quote you, plus I know one of them offers free shipping. One is Delray Acura out of Florida. The other is out of NY, but the name escapes me (Curry's?). Buy from one of them and you can get the kit for about $900 shipped, then either install yourself, or get your dealer to install front and back, and you can easily do the sides yourself in an hour or two.
Secondly, earlier posts were worried about ground clearance. If you are lowered on H&R's, the front mudflaps hang down further than the body kit, and I used to scrape the flaps all the time, but never scraped the underbody kit (except for the time I was run off the road but that's another story).
With H&R, definitely kit plus spacers or bigger rims with a proper offset to fill out your corners.

When I got my 4G, I wasn't planning any mods so I got my WDP with a golden pin stripe to match my umber interior, body side moldings, and spash guards.
Now, I'm getting the areo kit and so splash guards are coming off.
I think the moldings will make my ride too busy now and am looking into removing it. There's is a DIY thread on the 3G forum but what do you guys think? Will there be a noticeable area where the moulding were once i remove it? I'm concerned about the part the moulding covered will be noticeable?
I will also be looking now to remove the pin stripe if I can do it safely.

I would guess that it would depend somewhat on how old your car is?

I would think with age and exposure to sun, there may be a slight bit of fading.

Just wondering....my 2010 WDP just went through it's 4th winter and I definitely need splash guards. Do you think the paint colors of the guards will be off looking to the rest of the car since it sits outside all the time? WDP is a finicky paint.
