Best J-pipe for 4th gen

Hello all...I hope that some people with experience can chime in with this question.
Which J-pipe fits the best for the 4th gen TL?

I have heard that some do not line up at all...some fit great.
Is there one that is tried and true among you all? One with better overall specs and gains?
Endless RPM? RV6 Version2? Other brands?

Thanks for the help with this. I appreciate it.

Assuming you want to delete the third cat for most gains... Rv6 and xlr8 are probably considered the best. They have been around the longest. The rv6 is slightly larger diameter collector and is therefore in theory better. But it also has clearance issues because of that where it can rub on the subframe. If this happens it needs subframe spacers. Which is what I have and it also doesn't help ground clearance. The xlr8 I believe can also have that issue though. Endlessrpm or altp are also plenty good. Steer clear of any other brand than those 4 if you want to avoid fitment nightmares.

Get any of those four and your worst case scenario is a trip to the hardware store for some spacers and half an inch of less ground clearance is your only sacrifice.

Awesome! Thanks so very much. This is really helpful. Appreciate it!
If I do need spacers….what do you recommend? Do you have a link?

ATLP and RV6 are great vendors for that! Do you want one that cuts the 3rd cat or keeps it?

Depends on your state.

CA/NY? A visual inspection state? None of it will work due to the HFC and the need to space out the O2 sensors. The actual visual inspection will catch your attempt. They'll throw your ass in the zoo for life.

A simple "plug in and pass" state like IL? Any of them will work if you space the secondary O2 sensors with an angled defouler.

I am in Milwaukee, WI...so not sure. I dont think they visually inspect anything...just OBD it I believe.

Ah. Brew city...shoulda guessed.

Yeah, this is the easiest pass. No CEL = pass.

Either version will work for you.

Cat deletes will make the exhaust sound more raspy. And the exhaust will stink more. But will make slightly more power.

I think for a street car, a high flow cat version is smarter. Less rasp, less stink, slightly less power.

3rd cat that's connected to j-pipe isn't monitored so no check engine light so you are good to go!

If you don't plan on doing any future modding ,get the one that eliminates the 3rd cat for most power improvement. 3rd cat removal won't make the exhaust smell much sweeter or stinky, it's when you remove the main cats attached to the engine that you start getting that sweet smell of unburnt fuel.

RV6 is supposed to be the best as far as power improvement goes with their long tube version.

As far as the spacers you asked about, the new Rv6 comes with the spacers which is what I used. Any aftermarket jpipe could need spacers depending on condition of your motor mounts. Only the Rv6 comes with these spacers.

But they are little more than metal washers so you can go to the hardware store and find something that will work, if you end up needing them.

Great info, and great to know...thank you very much!

From all the info stated, I will be going with the RV6 version of the J- pipe.
I hope to do the high flow cats later this summer, then the Ktuner for sure!
Maybe even some ported and polished runners later on down the line.

With all these mods, and a Ktune...I am hoping for a bit more spirited driving for my daily driver.
I dont expect a ton of HP gains...just hoping for some more low end torque for an off the line boost!

I would say get the Ktuner from the start. It will change the fuel to air ratio in the engine because you added a Jpipe and deleted the cat. You need to tell the ECU that it was changed.

This just helped me make my decision!

I can only find the RV6 J pipe for the AWD model. Does anyone know if this will fit the FWD?

AWD J-Pipe will not fit FWD car. You can see the differece. The RV6 also removes the 3rd cat.

Hey Man,

I got the RV6 Jpipe for my SHAWD TL and so far I've been more than happy with it, I live in VA and even though the jpipe cut out the 3rd cat I still passed emissions and inspection. So take that with a grain of salt.

I WAS polling ATLP to see if they would be willing to make a SHAWD Jpipe for the 4G but its not at the top of their priority list rn, IIRC ATLP makes a FWD Jpipe though

All in all i'm more than happy with it.

Cheers,
Brian
