Bad time to be buying a '13 TL SH AWD/Advance?
Hi all!
I have a 2012 Infiniti g37xs sedan with a out 9k on it now.
Looking for a little more room, different body color(red now, want bells nova white) and a bit of a change. Driven Infiniti for a few years and would like to get a tl sh awd advance I have been offered a couple of decent prices concerning trade in , would be paying cash for the difference.
Had a thought last night and went googling for the 2014 and see talk of some mild restyling out issue but also about a new more powerful more efficient motor
Would this be the direct injected model? If the redesign is really true I don't know that I'd want to get a 13 and have 14s show up very soon.
I couldn't however find a release date that was very obvious besides spring 13 but we are almost summer now
Thoughts welcome!
Thanks
Marc

Hi Marc (French speaking by any chance?)
You did the right thing by coming to Acurazine for all questions related to Acura....you will find most people quite helpful and polite (for the most part *lol*).
The Acura TL will go through a FULL body change and it will be substantial....the timing is a little unsure at the moment but the overall consensus from what we can guess (since Acura is so discreet) is that the revised body style will occur early next summer as a 2015 model. In addition, the TL will now be called the TLX (not the TL) and it will be a bit smaller overall although we all think that interior dimension will be similar.
Many speculate that the TLX will be offered with a 4 cylinder and a 3.5 DI V6 (FWD and SH-AWD) because the TSX will also disappear next year and the two models will morph into one. The styling will be more conservative in my opinion by judging the overall styling cues recently being released by Acura. For example, the dual exhaust will no longer be visible as it happened with the RDX, the ILX, the RLX and now the MDX. It may still look really sexy but many are preparing for a neutered look. If you like the aggressive styling of the TL (13 model), there are great deals to be had so you might as well go for one and enjoy it. If you like the TLX when it comes out, you could always trade a year or two after the TLX is out. Waiting for the perfect car is impossible, they always change and often always come out with something better and greater and what makes us coming for new cars years and years....
Best of luck and if you have any question, don't hesitate. I have a few pics of my car in the photo section and its Bellanova White with the body kit (with the exception of the rear piece).

This is a good time to take your G to Acura and get about $3500 worth of incentives, there is $2K dealer cash and then $1500 conquest cash. One thing I will warn you is Infiniti resale sucks. They do not hold their value, Acura holds resale value far better. As much as I would like to order another M37 I will probably not as the resale drops far faster than its direct competitors. Audi and Acura both hold value far better. You should be able to get a 13 SH-AWD Advance for around $41800 or less.

Hi there. No french here sorry. Wow that is quite a change, that's NEXT summer, so about a year from now then it sounds like.
Then there are the 1st model year bugs and niggles that might pop up I guess.
I had looked at the preliminary info for the Inf Q50 but the same thing there, new model.
Has there been any real info out yet on the 2014 model and any possible changes? I would think there won't be many or will be small since they are already tooling the next model for a while now I would think.
thank you!

Since your G is so new, I'd wait for the new TLX, Q50, and IS350 before making the switch although there are huge incentives to buy the TL right now.
Space wise, the TL is definitely bigger than the G but the trunk space is about the same.

I don't claim to be the greatest negotiator, but is that very far off considering cash? They all 3 wanted to finance to get me the 1500 extra however.
I actually did look at a couple of low-mile M37x but those are still way high for a 2012 model, actually a new loaded TL advance awd was several thousand difference less on a trade. I know the M is the upper 50's but still, it really just felt like a larger G to me, maybe I'm missing the point of the M perhaps.

DDA- welcome to the forum.
The advance is the top TL trim package, so I personally don't see you paying much less then the $42k you were quoted.
The MSRP on that TL is 46k. Maybe in the fall it could be bought for 40k ?

I've now been to 3 (2 in St louis Mo) and 1 while on a weekend trip to Chicago this past weekend. The best I can get so far is in Chicago (McGrath Acura) is 12k difference paying cash. That is 42k for the TL and 30k for my G37xs.

The $1500 conquest requires you finance through Acura. The question I have not gotten answered is if I finance through Acura and then next month pay it off by refinancing the car through my credit union is there any penalty? Also there is 0.9% through today from Acura for 60 months.
#12
I know I financed a Ford F150 in February and paid off within 2 months and there was no penalty with that. Apples to oranges I know.
Concerning the conquest I'm aware of that part. The 42k place wants to toss in acura locking lug nuts, all weather mats and trunk liner, 3 oil changes and lifetime car washes. (Wouldnt take the last option even if they give it to me, too many scratches).

the 0.9 is through 60 months. That is one of the reasons I got the car. I know that because the interest on my ~38k loan is ~900 for the entire term.
also I know of shawd adv/tech go for 40k in the last 2 months. As much as I hate Woodlfield Acura's service dept, their sales dept is awesome. Try them.

I think it says minimium of 24 payments in the fine print:

I read that, but interpreted that to mean you have to finance for at least 24 month term, not necessarily make 24 payments. I think they assume people will keep the car that long if they finance that long. I was close to pulling the trigger on a TL, but that wording has me nervous because I do not want to hold the car 2 years, maybe 18 months.

Dealer told me same thing that the term has to be at least 24 months, but you can pay the car off at any time. I guess the key is the word "scheduled" that does not say actual payments made.

If it says "scheduled" pmts, I see nothing that stands in the way of a prepayment/payoff. The difference in verbiage between the "scheduled" pmts and "actual" pmts mainly comes into play when an amortization schedule is done for the loan at liquidation.

Meh, a car is a car. Really they are just appliances us men use to demonstrate or power and worthness to women. After we get them, we get bored and want something else to drive around town (This applies to cars and women).
In the end, your probably better off with GT5 on the PS3 and some good old fashioned internet porn.

Ill ask my wife later. It was an add on consumer reports car thingy where you got a negotiated deal with local dealer. It had 2013 Acura TL SHAWD advanced for like 40,998.00. at Bloomington Acura. Whitebear Acura matched the price and threw in all weather package, remote starter, trunk tray, cargo net, moldings, rustproofing and clear 3m mask for the front at the same price.
I sold off the stock tires to discount tires for 100per and bought Bridgestone Turenza Serenity Plus (Plus 0) 255-40 r 19 (instead of the 245 40 r 19). Now I have a car that has AWD + solid ride even with 19in rims. Changing from all season ultra high performance to Grand Touring Tires + Plus 0 (adding ~7mm to the sidewall)-smoothed out the bumps and ride. My wife could not believe the difference.

If you want an AWD, you should try to negotiate with states that really have no use for the system like Florida or other states. Those dealers are usually ready get rid of the stock because we don't need AWD here. That's how I got my deal.

That's pretty clever^ Smart thinking.

Got distracted from car buying and went back yesterday.
Spent a few miles behind the wheel with my wife and noticed a quite obvious 'thunk thunk' sound from the almost full gas tank. I guess it was the sloshing hitting front to back when coming to a quick stop at a light.
Never noticed that on my Infiniti or Nissans, guessing it's normal?

Why not finance just to get the $1500 incentive and then when your first payment is due pay it off. Not sure what interest rate you'd be getting or if there would be any payoff penalties. Just an idea. Good luck with your decision.

I'd plan on finance if I do this. I always like to look through forum discussions about any car I am thinking about buying, seems like the biggest problem with the TL is squeaks and rattles. Other than that they seem pretty solid.
I detest a squeaky, rattlely car, how common are they with the TL though?

I have no squeaks except for the Sunroof Ticking problem which they have a TSB. I just never took it to the dealer to have it repaired as I am worried it will be worst after the fact, besides, I lease my vehicle

SH-AWD TL is amazing. I am pretty sure you will love this car but eventually, you will find yourself wanting jewel eyes, multiview cameras, Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, new interface nav screen with better smart phone integration, when acura implanment them to all their acura vehicles.

The 2013 TL is an incredible deal right now. The Conquest/Loyalty money ends on July 8th and that's it. TL inventory is already very low and will only deplete more in the next 1-2 months, as 2013 production is done aside from the last batch of SE models.
Advance AWD's are the rarest, so if you can find one and like, go with it.

I asked my salesman at Acura about that, and he said there will be a 14 TL being released in probably October this year. He said for 15, it will be completely redesigned.
