Had mine for 5 years now, no issues with the paint. I removed the double sided tape that came with the unit and replaced it with two strips of 3M UHB. Proper preparation of the surface is key to adhesion that lasts.

I don't if the new units come with a different or improved tape from when I purchased.

So are the spoilers from both sellers (kyonick and bmwoemshop) pretty much the same?

I was debating on the roof or back window spoiler. also, the rain guards on the windows... My TL is black as well. Not 100% on the direction I want to go with it, though I have a few ideas

No they are slightly different. Bmwoemshop curves upward and the bottom side that faces the back is flat. This one above points diagonal on top but angles on the bottom side. I'd say the VRS spoiler posted above is a little more aggressive. From what I can see. Can't go wrong either way really. Adds to the look.

For those with the VRS Roof Spoiler, how are they holding up? I'm looking to purchase it in Bellanova White Pearl but the seller said it will not match 100% which is the reason it's not listed in the color code list.

Anyone with BWP who purchased this?

Just got the spoiler and waiting for the weather to warm up before installation.

Any tips on installing this besides proper surface preparation? Should I get a friend to help me line it up correctly?

You can do it yourself, I did, but found it hard to align perfectly across the whole rear window because of you can't reach all the way across to guide it and had to leave it hang for a second to go to the other side of the car. Mine came out about 1/8" lower than the window edge in the middle, but nobody has ever noticed of commented. Maybe someone has a way to get it perfect doing it themselves.

Don't peel the 3M tape completely across and peel it off as you go. Line it up with the top of the glass so you stay straight and start ~1cm (maybe half?) from the edge of the glass on the side.

The original (knockoff 3m) stuff that came with it fell off, the next time I used actual 3M stuff and put three rows of it. Peeled off ~6" and then draped the waxy cover stuff (can't think of the term?) down the back glass. So I peeled the three pieces and slowly made my way across.

Would have been easier with a second person though.

Hm... the tape that it comes with has the 3M logo. Did it have 3M logo on your original knockoff or am I good??

I used 2 pieces of painters tape to hold up the roof spoiler while I align both sides. Then I proceed to peel off the top layer of 3M tape to ensure it's straight and aligned before peeling off the bottom layer. No need to have a second person hold it up for you.

Mine did not have a 3M logo, however it was red in color.

This thread was awesome. I have been researching online for something to add a look to improve how my 4G TL looks. Hope to order this next week and install it when the weather is better and warmer. Thanks OP for the research and detailed info.
