Hey Guys, I was curious if anyone ever used the pre-cut window tint you can find on ebay? Looks legit, but has anyone had success with it and how accurate were the pieces.

if you're gonna go that route, I would only buy pre-cut tint that was computer cut.

this means data was fed into a computer and the computer made the perfect cuts according to the information

then, you might not be getting quality tint, as tint technology has evolved.
you might be getting a cheap dyed tint that will fade over time.

i like getting my tint done because i can choose the material and the tinters have skills that I dont have.

yeah it's that computer/machine cut. I change my cars regularly so I'm not worried about fading. I'm thinking of just biting the bullet and going with a Groupon tint special. I have no Idea how I would do the back window. That's a deal breaker the more I think about it

I've helped my friend's with it back in high school when we didn't have big money. Tinting yourself is definitely NOT worth the hassle. I assume if you have a 4g tech, that you can drop a couple hundred for a professional?

It is very hard not to get bubbles because of dust and other airbourne particles. Tint shops have a very clean environment with filtered air to minimize the risk of bubbles. And reputable shops will usually fix a window they screw up on if it bubbles up after you leave.

I normally DIY everything, except tint. When I had my Impala SS tinted, the shop used a database to find the computer cut specs, the back window was cut too short. So computer cut doesn't mean it'll be perfect, they started to do it and decided to cut a new piece by hand.

Things like this are better left to the professionals. When something cost as little as 200.00 I'm not sure why you would even attempt to do it yourself, its a major hassle to get perfect on your own.

I'm old school when it comes to DIY's so that's where the idea came in. However the last time I tinted a car was in 1999 on my Integra, figured i could relive the magic, but yall are right. It's best left to the professionals. I was curious as to anyone doing it themselves and getting it done right.

The other posts in this thread pretty much mirror my experience as well.

I just got Llumar 30% done for $160 on my TL and had the windows redone on the 3G for $120.

Nice to have input form others on the board. Sometimes we have the expertise for a DIY but not the tools or environment. Like arpypat said just a little dust can ruin a project, pro shops can eliminate that.
