Any reason to hold out for 2010 FWD?

Any reason to hold out for 2010 FWD?
My situation changed so have to get a new car in the next 1 month! Originally I thought I had time to wait until the 2010 show up to see if they made any incremental improvements (given the arrival of V6 TSX). Now I must pull a trigger on a 2009 model, yikes!
When should I expect any news to be leaked regarding 2010 changes? Do people expect any on just the 2nd model year? Will it simply be a reduction in number of color selection without color changes? New rims?
Any experiences from the the 3G TL going from 1st to 2nd year?

mmm...6 speed....I'm sure they'll juice the price of that one up too since it will be in high demand. A 4G, Mayan Bronze with umber interior and 6 speed manual that gets over 30mpg and costs under $30K...am I dreaming. I wish.
But to answer the OP's question...I think based on other Acuras (TL, RSX, TSX)...there aren't many major modifications done in the 2nd year production.

^^ high demand?? what do you base this on?
IIRC looking at 3G sales data the number of manual transmission cars vs automatic transmission cars sold indicated a very small percentage were manuals..hardly what I would call high demand....Maybe here at Azine high demand yes, but nationwide??
Here's hoping for some nice changes for the 2010 models

No changes will be coming...100%. I asked my GM and flat out said no way...there was alot of fuss around the 17' wheels on the FWD model, but to no avail. Pull the trigger now before you're stuck choosing between a Royal Blue on Taupe or Borealis Blue on Taupe!

Well, I wish to hell they would add ventilated seats, but I'm guessing that is doubtful.
But I'll tell you a concern I have. The price of the new 10 TSX V6 is so close to the TL FWD that I'm concerned they are going to raise the price of the TL a couple of thousand dollars - which would put an end to any chance of me buying a TL.
I don't know what drugs Acura is on that a TSX V6 with Tech package is nearly $39K.

Acura shoudl NOT jack UP the price on the TL, they should REDUCE the price on the V6 TSX. No one is going to buy a TSX when it costs more than a TL... nuts.
the TSX is nice, but not nearly as nice as the TL. period. end of discussion.

If anything I'd hope for a revised 17" or a more economical 18" upgrade. So you're certain no wheel changes are coming for 2010 huh?
So if it is 100% unchanged, then they're not going to sell any until all the 2009 are off the lot, that may take a awhile. I figure because of the slow year, they have to make some distinction between 2009 and 2010. Thoughts on that?

I guess my idea for high demand was based solely on my own desire for one...oops...
but yes...let's say the supply and demand graphs will meet somewhere very low and there won't be that many available.
About the ventilated seats...living in S.Florida, I rarely get out of my car dead of summer dead of day and have a sweaty back with my TL now...the seats would be nice but not necessary IMO

I was gonna wait for the 2010 v6 TSX's until i heard the price... thats how i picked up my '09 TL.
Acura is crazy for jacking up the price on the TSX. Too close to the TLs...

They should be coming up finally with the 6 speed auto trans which is ready. They are supposed to come up with ZDX that will have it for sure, so I am guessing they will put 6 speed auto on the TL as well. It is funny that Honda still uses 5 speed vs competition 6,7,8 etc. Other changes would be probably slim to none.
The same thing with the trans happened with 2nd gen TL, the first year was using 4 speed.

Given the substantial discounts and marketing support they've had to give on the 09 TL, a price hike at this point is quite unlikely.

It's too bad Acura saved some of the nicest features like ventilated seats, blind-spot monitoring system, panorama roof and most importantly, a 6-sp auto. for the upcoming ZDX crossover. That sucks......maybe I need to trade-in my 4G for the ZDX.........Nah!

They probably figured that the TSX V6 was a high demand item and therefore the demand would be fairly inelastic. There's really only one way to find out. It will be interesting to see how the V6 sells.

Also, Honda Motorcycle raised the price of the 09 Goldwings by about 5% in March of this year. I don't put anything past Honda at this point. Look at how goofy and out of line pricing is on the RL. They have basicallly killed that car with its high price. Most dealers don't even have one in stock anymore.

Re you last statement - how can you say that when they priced the V6 TSX at nearly $39K?

I guess we are "assuming" the 6spd will be exclusive to the ZDX, but can it show up FIRST in the 2010 TL? I guess it's possible, when is Acura going to release 2010 TL details???
I need to pick up a new car in a few weeks, can't wait much longer....

Perhaps the only compelling reason to hold out for 2010 TL is the chance for 6spd AT.

Is this insider info that's credible or your best guess. If TL's their high volume car maybe there's a chance they add the 6AT to help with sales. It is 1-2 gears behind its competitors.

When I went to my dealer to get an oil change several days ago, I spoke to the manager about the ZDX. He said the whole dealership is pretty stoked about its arrival. He thinks the ZDX will be a huge hit....much more than the new TL, and thinks the design will be much more accepted by the public than the TL's. He also confirmed that aside from a few color changes, the 2010 TL will be essentially the same as the '09's.

Honda/Acura always makes big mistake when they roll out new transmissions. Remember what happened with Accord a few years ago? If TL or ZDX comes with new transmissions, I won't get any until 2, 3 years later.
And I don't think ZDX a huge success. A copycat BMW X6 and the price range is ... well.

Why don't you think the ZDX will be a success? It has the most features of any Acura to date. The grill design and overall exterior/interior is much better than the TL, RL, TSX or MDX. It's also a great alternative to the MDX. The BMW X6 costs close to $70K, nowhere near what the ZDX will cost.

I had a certain dealer when pricing out the car giving me a 7% discount on the Tech Package (he said their markup) and 20% discount on the Skirt Package (his employee discount on accessories)
Does that sound correct for the percentages?
It seemed very aggressive to me.
Would other dealerships be able to match this?

ah, but if they do offer factory paint, then they admit they screwed up. And don't forget they have the "power plenum" coming out on the SUV's this year. I think the dealers will keep offering it as an option, but i don't think acura will do it from the factory.

From vtec yesterday. Interesting to note that they are making some tuning changes to the electric steering wheel on the TSX to give "better feel". No mention of that on the TL.
Looks like the MDX is getting the 6-spd auto as well for its MMC
