Looks like they will maintain the status quo for the most part with plans to up the ante with the 5G.

Acura is not planning to release the Type-S because the SH-AWD is basically their Type-S right now in the 4th generation TL.

Just like one dealer stated, what else can Acura do to make a Type-S? Add a different body kit to the bottom the car? The SH-AWD already has all the options you could want and comes with the bigger engine. So those of you hoping and waiting for a Type-S in 2012, I wouldn't give your hopes up for it. I do know the dealer also said that the 2012 will probably be the last year for the 4th generation TL and expect to see a big change for the 2013 which will then be the 5th generation TL.

As I have an 08 TL Type-S now, I'd love to have one in the 4th generation and tried to wait before picking up my new car this weekend. Just like many of the dealers told me there will not be a Type-S this year, but the nose and back end will get the change which has been confirmed here already.
I strongly doubt acura would go through the trouble of going through a relatively extensive MMC only to have it there for 1 year. If acura goes on the normal TL cycle (even with the reduced 2011MY, extended 2012MY), the 2014 will be the 5GTL.

I'm not saying what you said was wrong, but my guess is that the dealers are doing a lot of guessing.

Totally agree with you. The guy said he would not be surprise if the 4th generation TL went into 2013. He just felt based on what he had seen and read, 2012 would be it and Acura would be looking to make a new and improved 5th generation TL.

Honestly I would much rather see it happen in 2014. Cause that means when I am done with the lease on my 2011 I am picking up this this weekend, possible the 5th generation TL will be released. Not that it means I may get it, but it will be an new body style.

Not sure when they'll debut the car, but dealers will be ordering the first batch this week.

Oh! Colin, with Acura, what would be a typical interval between the time that the dealers order the first batch of a vehicle to the time that the vehicle is at the dealership?

i think M37 interior is superior and much more plushy..

you should have bought m37x or m56x....

I pick m56x anyday over tl.. tl competes with g37..

i'm in the market for a new car and i drove g37x and 2011 tl shawd.
if you drive g37x and step on gas hard, you feel the punch in the gut.
if you drive m56x with 50/50 torque up to 20miles(i think), you will never go back to 300hp tl..

60k for an Infiniti? I would honestly spend 5k more and get a CTS-V Sedan or Wagon.

Some people complain about all of the buttons on the TL interior (the same pro reviewers who love anything Infiniti, BMW). But, man, look at that Infiniti. That is one overwhelming layout. Tiered levels of buttons and dials. I demand a button/dial count. Is that real wood in the Infiniti? Or is it plastic?

I took a ride in an M37 and I have to say I think it's totally different than the TL interior.

M37 = Formal, Executive, more of a Bankers Interior.(Plush?/Frumpy?)

TL = Sporty,Casual, more of a Yuppy Interior.
(luxury?/Younger?)

I would rather have the TL.

In regard to the wood, it is supposed to be real. Infiniti claims that the wood is polished with real silver dust. It gives the wood a unique sheen. As for the buttons on the TL. Frankly, I don't find fault with the set up. It reminds me of high end sound equipment. If you realize that each sections of buttons control a specific item. The outside buttons control HACV, above center the radio, below center the Nav. It's really not that overwhelming. Even when I was a little kid, I was always fascinated with buttons, switches and gauges. So I like the TL dash. If I have a complaint, considering the fact the TL is somewhat of a high end car, I wish there were more soft touch padding on the dash and door panels. Some interior items come off looking a little cheap to me.

Having owned 09 TL and 11 M37 I would say the M37 to me is much more upscale and provides a feel and look of luxury. While it does have a few buttons they are styled in more of a classy luxy look and feel, while the TL is more Utilitarian in design and feel. I still think the Acura is built better. In recent weeks I have test driven Volvo S60 and Audi A4 and to Me if Acura can get it's exterior and interior styling on track they would have a far superior car. The Audi electonics had a large lag factor as does Ford MyTouch Sync.

I know right?? The door handles look and feel like the ones in my 2006 civic. Any of the "silver" plastic look and feel cheap. There is also too much hard plastic near the door switches.
Also, from a utility standpoint, when compared to my civic, the door pockets are too small to be useful (my civic can fit 4 500ml water bottles, the tl can't even fit one), and the glovebox can't really fit anything except for the users manual and a handful of papers.

The armrest is also extremely awkward, i hope they fix it for 2012 or the 5GTL. The U shape is awkward in both look and feel (not comfortable). The felted "drawer" doesn't have a passthrough for any usb or audio cable so the fact that it can be hidden is also useless. The actual amount of storage in there is poor as well. They should take note from the RDX, that this has credit card, pen and coin holders, it also locks, and is overall very useful.

I duno, i guess i was expecting too much after seeing how efficiently the space was in my 06 civic, and expected it to be even better for almost double the price.

Funny you mention the S60 and the A4. I too just recently drove them back to back. I found the A4 to be way overrated especially in the interior category and way overpriced. The Volvo actually had a nicer interior, handled better and pulled hard. I came away impressed.

I found the A4 to have a tad of Turbo lag that really took the fun out of the drive. I did like the handling, the interior was nicely designed, but many of the switches felt cheap.

The Volvo enthusiast driver support is gone. Gone are the fantastic S60R and and V70R cars. The Ghent Belgium plant had a dedicated line and QC was very good. Having leased a 2006 S60R 6MT AWD i had a blast, only misgivings were large turn radius and dim halogens.

Now slushboxes only, and cheaper parts are already tricklinng in, thanks comrades at Geely

The pic you have up of that Evolve S60R, that car was for sale on EBay about a month ago. I almost bid on it. I love the S60R, may still have to own one one day.
