...probably just to be argumentative.
how we classify the car in relation to other cars is pretty subjective.
Heart...that made me laugh out loud, buddy...you've never been interested in what your demographic drives, but in the same post you posted that seeing a younger crowd drive your same car makes you want to get another car.

Re-read what I wrote, this time slower.
As far as perception of German makes goes my German wife (who spent all her childhood and most her adult life in europe), has told me that overseas mercs are not considered to be in the same catagory as Audi/BMW and that mercs are often used as taxis.

The main upgrade is in the pricing and perception category. All cars are hunks of metal, plastic, leather, etc. that are assembled in some fashion or another. BMW and Mercedes have spent years honing this perception so that folks will be will to fork out more $ for something that is mostly intangible. When Audi first came out you couldn't even give them away, then they worked the same perception thing only to get zapped (unfairly) by the unintended acceleration thing but now they have climbed the perception ladder again--you know, German cars are superior to all others yada yada.

For us the buyers, ... because of the product pricing.
If the 4G TL is priced at around the same level ($50K) as the A6/5/E, then no one's gonna buy it since that a $50K (currently available) TL would be way overpriced.
Honda is not stupid. It knows it's product limitations. That's why it has another sedan one class above the 4G TL, which is the more premium RL, with a $50K price tag to do the job. But whether the RL is successful with the lack of V8/high-power-V6/RWD options, belongs to a different discussion.
The price tag determines what league or what premium class a sedan belongs to; and I don't think it is coincidence that the RL/A6/5/E all have very close starting prices, whereas that for the TL is significantly lower than any of the above more-premium sedans.

That's why I said that whether or not you could compare it would be totally subjective.
Heart, I reread it again, this time much much slower...got the same thing though. I don't care about what demographic drives my car and then you do care about it. No big deal.

The RL stop did selling altogether because also the TL exists.....something Acura dealers say very clearly.....the TL "cannot" be priced at 5 Series level because perception and badge not because of content........and the reason why it can be cheaper is also because sharing the Accord roots it saves costs....
I'm sure that if the RL did not exist the TL pricing could be moved a bit upwards...
The RL basically sells zero, nada, zilch....it has nothing to do with the lack of V8 or RWD (the A6 has neither)....it has a lot to do with the TL presence....how many 550 do you think are sold anyway?? the bulk of 5 Series sales are 528 and 535 anyway....
The A6 basically perfectly overlap the TL...a base FWD version and a ~300 HP V6 AWD one with 3 different option trims
Only recently the S6 has been introduced...
Again we are talking about contents here not people perception or pricing....what a real estate agent, a trophy wife think is not what we are talking here...we are talking about contents....
Acura clearly stated in its press release what the TL intended competitors are.....why do you think they also mention the entry/mid level 5 Series, A6 and Infiniti M???
It is not the main competitor...it is an also competitor

Super luxury is not even a segment....
EPA class: compact, midsize, large......then you have luxury compact, luxury midsize, luxury large....
In that web page they group the TL with a VW Eos.....

thats funny...i just checked the EPA page as well and in the midsize they have the following few:
Acura TL
Acura RL (same class)
BMW 5
and wait for it, wait for it
Chevy Sonic
and and
Mazda 3
Either way dude...no personal attacks to you....all am saying is Acura TL is somewhere in the middle of 3 series and 5 series....or the A4 and A6....
because most people consider this an upgrade from the A4 (i fail to see how but well) and they consider the A6 as an upgrade from the TL....
now you can compare apples and oranges, hey in the latest "greatest drag race" with 2012 GTR, Aventador, McLaren they also had the 2012 BRZ....
so lets drop the whole class thing and go back as i still think the Acura/Honda is on a 5 year change model

I've seen that article before, pretty funny that the TL would be their #1 if not for the *exterior* score...
So I'm late to the party, what exactly are we arguing about now? Class Comparisons again?
Why do they matter? As a consumer, don't you do your research, set a price you're willing to pay, then check out the rides in said price range and make your decision?
I could care less what a magazine dictates as car segments. I'm looking at the price, and then selecting the right car for me. Who cares if the BMW or Audi isn't *compared* to the TL by a magazine. I compared them when I was shopping. All I found in both were ways to spend a lot more money without anything to show for it. If my budget had been $50K instead of $40K I most likely would have gone Lexus GS before anything German. I like my cars to last well more than 4 years

^^^ well the reason why class came into the picture is coz I said if i wanted to spend 45K on a car, i would cross shop with BMW 3 series/MB C Class/Audi A4 and couple think, I am in the wrong "segment" and should cross shop with the BMW 5 series/MB E Class/Audi A6
#142
Well, I say cross shop whatever you want I looked at Avalons (yeah, that's right), Audi, BMW, Lexus, Hyundai, Infiniti (no Merc though) when car shopping last fall - didn't like anything, and ended up at an Acura dealer. Had completely forgotten about them as a brand.

^^^ Acura's make a sexy car....dont get me wrong....
if i want a car which is gonna last me and not gonna cost me a fortune to own....i did be at the acura dealer....but when i hit my midlife crisis, i would def be at the BMW/MB/Audi dealership and trade the car in after 2-3 years of owning it while i still have warranty on it LOL

.....I could hit a BMW dealer too but my midlife crisis car would definitely not be a 528 or a 535 coming from an Acura TL SH-AWD.....
If we are talking about an M5 or an M6 then it's a different story....but in that ballpark I would get a GT-R....

You think the Panamera is ugly?
Wow...I mean, yeah, partially cause it's a porsche...but on 22's and a little lowered...very few 4 door/station wagonish cars look that amazing.
Ok, I guess I'm taking this way off topic. Does anyone have an spy shots of the 5G yet? Any inkling? Found NOTHING on google images..
