Aftermarket install with base HVAC on Tech

Just wanted to tell others that it IS possible to swap radios and nav screen to keep your HVAC controls displayed on a base model screen when you own a Tech model TL 09-14. If anyone needs any pointers or is interested to know how I did it I'd be more than happy to help!

Is there any other info displayed on the top screen now besides the AC info?

Also, were you able to get any of the steering wheel controls working with the new radio?
How about the factory reverse camera?

Does the Voice command for the AC and other stuff still work?

I've considered doing this with a nice CarPlay headunit but hate losing little stuff like the advanced diagnostic info (for example, the messages that tell you WHICH TPMS sensor has stopped reading when the TPMS system stops working just because one sensor ran out of batteries).

Can you give us a good breakdown of what still works and what does not?

A parts list or step by step for this would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible to keep the OEM camera with the aftermarket head unit?

it may be possible but I found it easier use an aftermarket camera mounted in the factory camera hole. Also found it looks much better than the factory camera ever did. The one I used was somewhere around $20 on Amazon.com

Ok thanks. Did you purchase the base TL parts from a junkyard and swap them to your Tech model? If so, what parts are needed and is there any splicing or re-wiring to do?

Looks good! I'm interested in a parts list and if you still have steering wheel controls.

I still have my steering wheel controls for the most part, just not the answer and end call buttons. I used a metra steering wheel control interface with my radio to keep them.
