Advice with Dealers/Sales

IMO 38k is a great price. I bought my tl which was a demo with 6k miles on it the same day the dealer got the 2010s in so they wanted to get rid of it. I paid 36k and change for mine. 38k sounds like a good deal especially with the HPT.

Excellent pricing, that is about $3k below invoice in either case and is probably as low as a dealer will go under these incentives and still be able to make money. I have tried to get them that low but no dice. If you don't mind me asking where are you located?
Now is as good a time as any to buy this car. They may sweeten the incentives a little by years end but not much. If you are leasing now is the time, the residuals have not really dropped.
Any changes are speculation at this point. They have just released an accessory grill so I don't see them bringing a change in only a few months time but anything goes.
Acura had On Star with the first year or two of the current RL. Since that flopped I guess they cut costs however they had to. At their price points I don't really expect it. They are afterall considered "value" luxury so you can't have everything. You do get TLC or total luxury care. I think it's roadside assistance but there might be more to it.

welcome to the forums. i also think that is competitive pricing. like you said, you may be able to do better once during year end close out but your not getting raped at all.

Um... Yea, that's a good price. I'm sure you'll find others here got their SH-AWD,Tech w/ 6MT (no HPT) for between $39k and $42k. I can't believe they're offering that price...
You said you were getting quote(s)? Did you get more than one dealership to get down that low? Seems kinda hard to believe, but jump on it if you can, that's a freaking steal.

I notice the original poster referred to $2,000 from Acura. In my neighbourhood, I think it was only $1,000.
At $38K - $39K, these cars represent an extraordinary value!
The continuance of 1.9% financing in many parts of the network make it even more attractive.

I got the $2000 cash back. I paid $34,500 (price without taxes/tags) for my 2010 TL w/tech. It ended up being $100 over invoice minus the $2k. So I only paid $1500 more for this new TL than my 2006 TL w/nav.

Sounds like a hell of a deal!
I bought mine (SH-AWD - Tech - HPT - 6MT) for $500 over invoice. Which was about $40-41k before taxes and a couple of add-ons. They didn't have the cash back incentives at the time, but I did get 1.9% financing.

$2000 Cash and 1.9%
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Here in northern California the Acura dealers are getting $2000 cash back for every TL they sell. The cash goes to the dealer, not the buyer. the 1.9% 60 month financing is offered in addition to the dealer cash back. This deal is in place until March 1, 2010.
Yes I have the $36,800 quote for the TL SH-AWD, Tech, 6MT with 18" wheels from 2 dealers and the $38,000 19" quote from 3 dealers. I'm only counting dealers who actually have the car in stock. Not all dealers are willing to match those prices, but plenty are either right there or close. Others have offered to match those prices but would have to locate the car. I'm told there are many more 6MT cars in southern California. I'm trying to get a $37,500 deal on a 19" wheel car. At worst it will be $38,000.
Not sure what I'm going to do, but I'll probably go for the TL. I've got a couple dealers really wanting to make a deal. if I can get my target price, the deal will get done.

Gocal, I would seriously jump on that pricing anyway especially since you get 1.9 for 60 months in Cali, some of us are stuck with 2.9 and most of the best deals around here only come in at about $38k or a little less for the 6MT SH without 19's.
I am pretty sure one could get close to what you are quoted over here but it would be for the few dealers who have the one thats been on the lot for months and has been test driven a lot, has too many miles and is already showing interior wear. I would pay a little more not to have that one.

its very good price, I paid 37,400$ last week for same car (w/o HPT), but as you said cali has 1.9% whereas we have 2.9%(37mo or more) in tri-state, even with 2K cashback, no other dealer in my area gave me the price I got from my dealer(openroad, wayne)

For Québec city the price have got for a 2010 TL SH-AWD no Tech with 5 AT is around $47,000 CDA plus taxe and don't forget the money exchange is 1.04. So i think you have a better price in USA then we have in Canada.

^Do you get any of the incentives in your area? If you do the dealer could be getting another $2k on top of that from Acura so basically they are only using the dealer cash to discount and charging you full MSRP to start.
If that's the case I wouldn't pay it, I would buy out of state, seriously. Everybody is hurting not just them. You can get the SH tech for almost that price or another $1k more, somewhere else.

What should one expect to pay for a Base w/ Tech. After reading many of post here it seems like 36k or even 35.5k would be a fair price.

Im not sure if the $2000 Manufacture to Dealer applies to LA based dealerships but I am eligible for the 1.9% incentive. When the time comes I'll try to get more out of them but not sure if they will move much.

A good price should be around invoice to about $1k over then minus the dealer cash. For a FWD tech that would be about $36500-$37500 is a good start then take away the dealer cash if it applies. So it's just like you said above, all that's left is to check if it's available for LA.

See what you can do, I don't know many dealers who will say no to $1k over invoice minus any incentives so $35.5 is more than fair with the marketing support. Because of the incentives, the way at look at it is they are really selling the car for $38k if they only to go to $36k. Their profits are the same. You have to ask yourself, would you buy the car for $38k and be happy with your deal?

I bank with USAA, and they offer a free car buying service:
"See your guaranteed upfront price relative to invoice on new cars from USAA Certified Dealers - you will see your UPFRONT price before entering your contact information. Dealers will honor this price with no negotiation or haggling."
Prices they are showing me:
2WD Base - $31,683
2WD Tech - $34,604
SH-AWD Base - $34,393
SH-AWD Tech - $37,859
SH-AWD Tech w/ HPT - $38,766

The popularity of the 4G TL should really take off at this price.

Just an FYI...
I also have USAA - my dealer (here in SWPA) does not deal with USAA. Not all dealers do... The closest dealer that will honor USAA's price is Rosenthal Acura in Gaithersburgh MD. For me that would be a 600 mile round trip to buy a new car.
I called my dealer with this information, gave him the prices and he was a bit shocked. He stated he'd need to give me a call back. He returned my call in about 10 minutes and gave me a quote of $39,164 for a 2010 SH-AWD Tech 6MT. Before, he wasn't budging from $42,195
I would use these as a tool. Use them as leverage if you need to get to the price you want.

jnc2000,
Looks like our prices differ slightly probably due to region. I live in Milwaukee and the closest USAA Certified Dealer for me is in the Chicago land area. I believe it's Acura Libertyville. Acura Brookfield in Wisconsin wouldn't match USAA's price guarantee when I negotiated with them last August.
How did you add the images?

I have an excellent credit rating - above 740 - and live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pricing obviously varies by region, as does the Money Factor if you are leasing.
Prices they are showing me:
2WD Base - $31,683
2WD Tech - $34,604
SH-AWD Base - $34,393
SH-AWD 6MT Tech - $37,859
SH-AWD Tech - $37,859
SH-AWD Tech w/ HPT - $38,766
SH-AWD 6MT Tech w/ HPT - $38,766
No price difference on 6MT vs 5AT models with same options.

i'm glad to see these prices for the 2010 models because I plan on buying a 2009 SH-AWD w/tech by May at the latest...so i'll be getting some good prices if i use these low 2010 prices as leverage

I'm amazed at the deals you all are getting. Whatever you do, don't move to Vegas, cuz you would be laughed out of town at those prices. Two dealers here and they both are impossible to deal with. They will out and out call you a liar when you mention incentives, especially cash back to the dealer. Show them the Edmunds printout for proof and they tell you it's not true when we all know it is. The best price I was able to get on an 09 TL Tech (only ones left in December) was $1,200 over invoice. I also tried to deal on an 09 MDX Tech and got the same offer. No budging whatsoever, so I walked. The dealers could care less since there's always a sucker in Vegas who will pay sticker.
I belong to USAA and when I inquired on the car buying service prices, none of the dealers here were listed which is what I expected.
