Advice for buying 2004 TL?

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and don't really know much about Acuras. I've been eying the TL for quite some time and am really considering picking one up.

I found a 2004 model for about 13,500 with 88k miles and it comes equipped with navi. It has a clean title and is absolutely gorgeous. My concern, though, is whether or not this is a good buy?

I remember reading somewhere that TLs require many replacements at the 80k mile mark? If so, which ones should I ask the seller about whether or not he has performed any of the services. Also, would you have any other advice for someone in the market (questions to ask the seller, what to look for, etc)?

Thanks!

You posted this in the 4G forum. The 2004 is a 3G. And yes, it's a great car and runs and runs and runs...

There aren't many replacements at the 80k mark from what I recall. Around 100-105k you'll have to replace the timing belt, which can get somewhat pricey.

check to make sure the recall on the Power Steering Hose was addressed (if applicable) and i believe the first half of 2004's had some issues with transmissions and a nasty driveline vibration..

other than that... car is solid as a rock... i had 2 of them, and i loved them

My only concern with 04 TL (which I owned) is that they had a few issues as it was year one and the build quality was far from excellent, mine had horrible squeaks and rattles. I know they addressed numerous things in the 05 so maybe if you can afford it look for an 05 or 06. Consumer Reports ran a report a while back showing the quality of cars during their model runs and year 3 of most Hondas and Toyotas was that year with the leaset quality issues and year 1 was the most.
