AcuraCare or Not?
I just purchased a 2009 TL SH-AWD with Tech. I have owned several Hondas and all have been very reliable with the exception of our 2002 Odyssey which required a new transmission, alternator and SRS computer.
I am not sure what to do about buying the warranty on the TL. Generally, I never buy extended warranties, but I plan on keeping this car for at least six years and it does have lots of techno gadgets that could fail. On the flip side, it is a Honda and it probably won't fail.
If I buy the warranty I will buy it from an out of state dealer who has priced it much more competitively than my selling dealer. I can get the 8 year/100k mile warranty for $1,205 and the 7 year /100k mile warranty for $995.
Can anyone confirm that the AcuraCare warranty is a bumper to bumper warranty with the exception of wear items?
What is the general feeling out there - Have most people purchased it, skipped it or gone third party? How about the Geico MBI - Is that a better option?
Thanks

I got the 5 year / 100,000 mile Acura Care warranty for $815 online, which was about $200 lower than the dealership was willing to go.
I look at it like this: the car seems to be built like a tank, but if something is going to fail, it is going to be one of those complex electronics. If one of those fails, the warranty pays for itself. If more than one fail...

I have the mechanical breakdown insurance from Geico, which covers certain parts for up to seven years I believe. My new Acura TL SH-AWD I purchased came with a lifetime powertrain warranty through the dealer. Part of an incentive program they were doing.

Acura-care is def worth it. Talk to tim @ hondaacuraworld for the best prices for the warranty only if you are not in FL as FL residents cannot buy warrantys from out of state people.
