6MT Owners: Heel-Toe w/ Touchy Throttle

How come the throttle is *so* touchy?

How is everyone else performing smooth heel-toe downshifts?

A slight tap of the throttle sends the engine deep into the 3K range.

Since it's drive by wire, can this be remapped?

I have no issue with throttle on downshifts. Maybe because this is the first manual I have ever owned. I match the rev almost every time when I heel and toe.

It takes some time.... It was difficult at first, but soon you get used to the gas pedal and it's actually very easy. Like anything, practice makes perfect.

You get used to it.

I have no problem "rev matching" on the track, but I do not really do a "heel toe" kind of thing.

Let me tell you a little secret: There is no such thing as engine braking.

The car is only going to brake at its maximum efficiency if you threshold brake with the gears disengaged, carry the threshold brake as you're turning (trail braking), and then you smoothly move from the brakes to the gas while rev matching and engaging the proper gear, and then flooring it.

Rev matching before the turn in is a waste of time, potentially unsettling to the car, and inefficient if you want to get through the corner the fastest way possible.

These cars are set up to turn very quickly. Out of the box, they already feel like a track car with an aggressive alignment.

IMHO, you don't want to do anything potentially unsettling, and you don't want to waste time doing a classic heel/toe kind of thing before you're turning.

IMHO.

Speaking as one dumb old man and not meaning to pretend to reflect any kind of Absolute Great Truth. :-)
