Curious, I’m looking at specs of 2024 TLX Type S compared to 2012 TL SH-AWD 6MT… is the 2012 faster?
what do you think? Top speed, and 0-60 seem very comparable.

They are very close. I believe the Type S is a bit quicker to 60. But quarter mile times/trap speeds are almost identical.

I would imagine the Type-S feels faster on the butt dyno, riding that wave of turbo torque.

I doubt the 4G 6MT is faster than the new Type S.
Power to weight ratio is similar between the two, but the TLX has better torque, a flatter powerband, more gears, and a modern automatic trans.
Top speed for both is computer limited.

Not sure what he was talking about with the 6MT being in "Sport Plus." There is no driver mode selection on the 4G TLs. A lot of accumulated data (from back when the 4Gs were new) show 0-60 times of about 5.1-5.2 for the 6MT and quarter mile times of 13.6-13.7. So pretty similar to the newest TLS, with the TLS getting the jump 0-60.

I have a 4g TL (not a manual though) with the k pipe, resonator delete and k tuner, and my wife's MDX Type S smokes my ride off the line every time. As soon as the turbo hits in sport plus mode in the MDX, all I see is the rear end of the MDX. So I would think the TLX Type S has to be faster than the 4g TL from 0 to 60 since it's much lighter than the MDX.

The 6MTs were easily a second faster to 60 than the autos. At the time, Acura touted the SHAWD 6MT as the "spiritual successor" to the 3G Type S.

The TL is a very solid car. Strong performer, and generally very reliable. Some (including me) were taken aback at first by the styling (which was a little ahead of its time), but they've aged well. My mind was switched after a test drive on a windy, hilly road. Every time we came to a turn, the salesman kept telling me, "don't brake, gas it." The wonders of SH-AWD!

Well, apparently Acura made some changes to the '24 Type S that make it significantly quicker. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...-type-s-drive/
The new car goes 0-60 in 4.6 and does 13.3 in the quarter at 105 mph. Those are both quicker than a 4G 6MT TL.
Please, Acura, offer this car with a 6MT! Just like the Integra, you'd have the only MT option in the class.
