4G A-Spec
I just rec'd an e-mail from Acura Canada announcing that there will be an 4G A-spec version of the car for Canada. Basically just the SH-AWD Tech with the full lip kit, US 19" HPT package, "sport chrome" trim and a few badges. No performance or suspension upgrades were mentioned (hopefully they're saving that for an upcoming TL-S)....basically includes a bunch of stuff that you guys in the US can already get as options, we will get up here in one "A-Spec" package. Well, at least we can get the HPT now....

I understand what you mean, but IMHO the 6-6's suspension is already just about the perfect cross between enthusiasm and what somebody might complain about if it were firmer.
:-)
I think I'm going to have to see pictures before and after before I will believe in the "Sport Grille" change, too.

except for the fact that it still has a huge and unnecessary wheel gap. i have gotten over the grille, but i in no way can get over that gap. every higher end luxury car is making their vehicles sit pretty, but not acura. they go with giant wheel wells, small wheels, and tall suspension. changing this would make they cars look SOOOOO much better!

The SH sits pretty low, get the HPT package and it looks even better. I am a little confused by that statement, you mean the FWD version, right? That is supposed to be the softer more fuel effecient model.
I had the A-spec and it doesn't sit much if any lower than an SH or the TLS did.

Just checked to confirm that the SH has only two fingers of gap both front and rear. The FWD perhaps a bit more but that is the design, done on purpose. For what it's worth that is with brand new tires.

I like the way you think, Grandpa.
I suppose they don't look too bad, but their prices are outrageous! And the other part I'd be concerned about is that they're going to be really heavy. After all, the ZDX is like 500 to 600 pounds heavier than the TL, right?
This design looks too much like the Base TL's 17" wheels. Only these are 19" and are $2200
This design looks much cleaner, but at $4004 for 20" wheels and tires, that's a bit pricey for me!!

Perhaps I maybe in the minority, but I like a little bit of "wheel gap."
Traveling on the ice/snow, it would be nice to have some room so the snow/ice doesn't freeze up and lodge up the tire
IMHO, I have to say that 19" are plenty nice and very aggressive for my taste

Umm...$461 for forged 20's? Damn, that's cheap. I wonder how much they weigh, and what the other details of the wheels are.

That's cheap if they're forged like Volks, yes, indeed.
But are you sure they're not the usual Honda-Enkei cast type wheels?

No bud, I'm totally with you....any car looks and performs better with a reasonable, well thought out and integrated suspension drop. I'm not talking slammed with extreme negative camber like those silly "VIP" cars....I'm talking a 1 1/2" drop, matched shocks, just enough to lessen the wheel gap and tighten up the body roll.
BTW...here's the e-mail that I was referring to...

I already have the FWD WDP with A Spec kit. I guess im missing the AWD 19" wheels and apec badging.
Now im kinda pissed...but I'd guess a price of $50k+tax
Any pictures??

Ummmmkaaaay.
So now we're all going to run out and spend a few grand on the full body kit, dark chrome sports grille, and 19" wheels/tyres.

i wish it actually looked like that in person. that black looks hot, but the actual black is just lacking on these new models. they should have stuck with NBP or switched up the pearl to something other than blue...but plain black is boring.

ya know, my bad...i wasnt aware that there was a pearl to it. i have seen it in person and it didnt appear so have any pearl, but it must have just been the light or somethign. i guess this new black just doesnt pop as much as the older versions did...thats all. but i was wrong i am also not a fan of all the chrome around the windows and stuff, so it kinda takes my attention away from the paint. i should stop talking now...

No it's cool, I actually thought the same exact thing about the lack of pearl on this black at first. I usually like a little more pearl but then I realized this subtle approach doesn't take away from the blackness, if that makes sense. It has enough pearl for some effect but not enough to detract from the jet black look.

The black cars will also come with the dark shiny grille. The literature doesn't seem very clear about whether the white car will ahve it.

The Sicilian
I do like the 18" rims over the 19" or 20"s because of the road feel. The ride with the bigger rims is just to stiff. If I want stiff, I'll drive my 03 Maxima SE with the sport suspension. I bought the TL because I want to feel like I'm riding in a luxury car.
These are the rims I like:

^ i like those too, but i do think the larger wheels look better on the 4G. the car is just so bulky looking and has such large wheel openings and the larger wheels just help to balance that. but i do like those. maybe with a nice drop they would look even better

i have my doubts of that being real, but i love that bumper so much better. i love how the bottom honeycomb section spans the entire width, its a small change but it makes it look a lot sportier. and the ron jon grille doesnt hurt either

Saw the A-Spec live and in person today at the Canadian Autoshow in Toronto - honestly it looks very similar to a normal TL, except again for those special RIMS you get, (that the US guys already get as an option), the skirt, the midnight chrome front and back pieces, and the A-Spec logo on the front doors.
I got pics that I will post up tomorrow - but the midnight chrome on that car looked pretty hot, too bad they didn't have the WDP version as well, as right now, I would love to switch my stock beak and trunk trim for the midnight chrome, it just flows with the car so much better.
Hoping to see one soon somewhere.
I asked a lady though if you could buy those pieces on their own and she said no - its only for the A-Spec version...hope that changes!!
Will post pics tomorrow!!
