3rd door seal (triple seal) DIY
I mentioned that I had a TLX loaner for a day and noticed the car had triple seals on all its doors. So I went ahead and applied an additional layer to all the doors except the front passenger door for an experiment. I noticed the wind noise is definitely reduced when the car is running on high way especially on the newly paved portion. Since I left the front passenger door untouched, my wife and I noticed the mind noise is a bit more noticeable on that side. Here are some pics I took this morning. I spent a total of $30 and one hour of my time to do it. Maybe it's just our mind but we do think it worked. But did not help much on the road noise.... I guess I need a new set of tires. Still running on the OEM crap with 29K miles on the meter.

Wow, what a great implementation of a great idea!!
Fantastic work, in most of the pics I can't see where OEM left off and your work picked up, very nicely done!! I will certainly be looking into doing the same!!

Thank you sir! It is quite easy and pretty cheap to do the experiment! One tip: Make sure you get the strips with 3M tape backing! The D shape I got from Amazon does not have 3M backing tape and after a few raining days, the ends started to pop loose..... The P and Z shapes do have 3M and they are still intact perfectly!!

So in theory this seems like a good idea but after considering it I decided it's not worth the risk. I'm guessing Acura has done it's homework on how to channel water out of that space and messing with it could lead to rust from trapped water and debris, or water draining somewhere it's not supposed to.

Your door jams are really clean after looking at the pictures again. I park my car outdoors. I have a 2009 version and it's so noisy on the highway so I am welling to give it a try in the spring.

After almost a week of driving since I put in those seals, I do believe my car is now quieter. The wind noise is really low now. When you apply those seals, make sure you clean up the area well with rubbing alcohol and wax/grease removal!! The front door edge is the most pain in the butt area...

All the rubber seals I put on are still intact after months of rain in Seattle area! I really think the extra seals do make difference! Very little wind noise while driving 65 mph. I will be putting on a new set of Conti DSW tires next week and see if the car will be even quieter!!

First of all, thanks for the information.
The P shape from Ebay has the 4M adhesive back but i'm not sure how long that will last...
The other question is do you have any tip on how to properly install the Z strip? They look like a b*** to install..

Not a problem. So for the Z shape, yes it is a little pain in the butt to install. I did a small section from the top edge of the door to the hinge and a long section from top hinge to the bottom edge. I just use my finger and a 12" ziptie (tie the 3M tape cover to the ziptie and feed it through the hinge). So that would be much easier to pull out the tape while applying Z shape to the door edge. Hope that helps!!

By the way, I have a new set of Conti DWS installed last week! Wow, what a difference compared to the OEM tires. The car is much quieter on the rough pavement. Very little wind noise with these third seals and little road noise now! I was riding with a coworker in his new Mazda 6.... night and day, my TL is way way quieter! I would say it is comparable to TLX. The engine noise is more in my TL but hey, I love that VTEC noise!!

Thanks i'll try that method.
My car is quiet but I still can hear the wind noise from the Driver's side when driving over 60mph. Hope these door seal will help with that...

After driving the car with the new seals for few months, the seals are still intact! The car is definitely quieter with the new Conti DWS tires I put on. One thing I noticed... All the doors are now well sealed and every time when my wife shut the passenger door, it creates a huge air pressure and makes my ears hurt.... She doesn't slam the door, just normal force and it is already hurting my ears. It is pretty crazy that this 3rd seal would make such difference.

Thanks for the info man. Going to try this. Been driving on the highways a little more lately and noticing the wind noise the more I drive.

I just ordered it (5/4/2016) from ebay.ca from the same vendor and I just got the package yesterday. I did a quick look and it appears to have 3M tape on it as well. I plan on installing soon but I need clean the door jams first.

Huge air pressure when closing the doors doesn't sound too good. Did this not happen earlier after you installed them and does it only happen in the front passenger door? Do you plan on keeping the added seals on now with that issue?

So when I first did this, my wife was out of town for months.... that's why I had spare time to do it. Then I had rentals for 70 days. Now I actually have a passenger with me when I drive the TL, I started noticing this.. The air pressure isn't too bad. It just abnormal to me. She has been sitting in the back with our new born baby so we haven't tested out the front passenger door yet. But it didn't seem like it bothers her when I shut my driver door while she is in the car. I guess I just notice things.... I will keep the seals regardless.... I may just crack open my driver's window or the trunk passthrough cover open whenever I have it parked in the garage!

I just installed it yesterday and it makes a huge difference. There is a more solid thunk and it's quieter in city driving. I have not gone on the highway yet. I left some gaps on the corners so water has a place to exit. This is a cheap mod with great results.
I would order an extra P shape so if it comes off, you can fix it again if necessary. You can't make a mistake on the bottom of the doors as there not much spare material left.
It's like a Lexus!
Looking at the photos, I only put a P shape on the front doors but I put it at the bottom edge so it did cover the "drain" holes. It looks like you put a P and the Z on the Front doors and only a P on the back doors.

The front door front edge uses a Z shape so I placed it from top to bottom with a bit extra material near the bottom and then I removed the sticker backing from top to bottom pulling it behind the PITA hinges. I then cut it when I was almost done peeling the sticker near the bottom of the door. The D shape was the easiest part to install.
