I was thinking of installing new exhaust tips on my TL. Was undecided between two dual 3.5 or 4inch staggerd tips. Tried to find pictures of TL's with both mods on the web but didn't find nothing conclusive with a nice side view. Im aiming for a bold look without them sticking out 2 much. Id like them to bled in. Any suggestion or advice?
These seem to be the most popular. I live in Canada and they cost me 170 CAD plus 60CAD for shipping plus 16.50CAD for import duties per a bill from fedex. They arrived in a week and were exactly as advertised. They are welded directly to the mufflers. But they are too long for my 2012 TL. The guy that I paid to put them on chopped off a half inch from them, they still stick out maybe another half inch from the bumper which I said was acceptable, if I were to do it again I would probably get a full inch chopped off so they are completely flush with the bumper. I paid the guy 60CAD to install them. I still like them where they are though sticking out that tiny bit I think it makes it look even more aggressive. So it should be noted they come too long and need to be modified (about an inch needs to be chopped off) and they are 2.5 inch pipes, the stock pipes on this model TL are 2.25 inch. So they either need an adapter or to be welded directly to the mufflers.
Thanks for the input! But after reading your thread, you said that you would of trimmed a whole inch instead of just haft... honestly they look pretty flush to your bumper. Do you noticed any difference in sound?
Ya the thing is that I wasn't content with how they were mounted on there. So since then I had them chopped off and mounted again to be flush. My brother is a welder so I forced him to do the welding for me. They actually got shortened by at least 1.5-2 inches in order to be flush with the bumper. It was really easy I did the choppin with a saws-all and my bro welded them on. Those tips must come pretty long to fit other models. But any tips you buy may have to be modified to fit how you want them to. As far as sound I'm not really sure if they made any difference. I haven't had the car for that long and I don't remember how it sounded before the new tips. All I know for sure is that it sounds pretty good now.
