2013 Acura TL 3.7 SH-AWD Engine Noise

Hey guys, new to the forums! Created this thread as I have been experiencing a strange engine noise. I have tried looking through the forums regarding engine noise but nothing stuck out to me. This chopping noise increases in frequency when the rpms increase. Not sure if it is a possible worn out cam lobe or just a timing belt tensioner that has failed. Adding a sound clip here and hoping for some insight or feedback on what it might be. Thanks again!!

Sounds like mine did before the engine was rebuilt due to the oil consumption thing; bad lobes and brutally scored cylinder walls in my case.

Kind of sounds like the cam lobes but also could be the TB tensioner. Does the noise go away or get quieter after a while or is it always there no matter how long the engine has been running?

Take off the valve covers and inspect the cams, 3.7L is prone to cams being eaten

You forgot to clarify that in order to check the condition of the camshaft, you need to remove the frame with rockers.

I am actually away from home for an extended period of time but when I get back I plan on removing the drive belt to see if I can still hear it

If that does not work, I may just have to remove the valve cover & rockers. Is there a DIY thread for this so I could follow a step by step?

Don't listen to him, he's shitting. The design of this engine is such that it is not subject to rebuild, only the replacement of the replacement of the short block.

Not a "rebuild" but more of a new engine build. The 7 page itemized invoice for the warranty work shows a new block, two new heads, cams, everything. Took them 2 weeks to do after they first took the engine apart to replace the pistons and rings. That was a very interesting call to receive from the service manager.
