2012 TL Center Console PRND Lighting??

Mine is not lighting up. I've seen posts stating this to be an issue on the older models. Anyone else seeing this on the new models? thanks

bring it back to dealer.

imho, i dont fuck with oem electrical parts on the TL, the car is just too complicated to mess with, and has some serious bad results if done wrong.

your car is under warranty, bring it back.

I assume that what you mean is that the gear you are in does not light up on the center console. No, mine does not. I assume it's because their is an indicator on the dash that lights up the gear you are in. And yes, I think it's pretty f'ing stupid because you are naturally looking down at the console when you shift gears.

yes ...correct...it does not light up on the center console (it does light up on the dash). and it's real annoying as you naturally are looking down when you shift.

Your car is functioning normally... just have to look at your dash while shifting instead of down

Open that bitch up and mod it with some LED's. The wiring was invented by man so its can be MODed by man.

wow i never noticed this, i guess it's because the three places i look at the most while in the car is the road, the meters, and the mirrors; not my shift knob

i usually get a feel for shifting in a certain car after a week or so, i mean it's not like there's many cars out there with let's say PDRNL instead of PRNDL and the gate patterns usually aren't so bad.
does it bother you enough to effect your driving or is it some kind of force of habit?

I could have swore mine light up at night as well but there were enough people in this thread that said they didn't to convince me otherwise and I don't drive at night enough to verify. I thought I might have just been seeing the blue LEDs light up the console area. That being said, I am pretty confident my letters are illuminated, even if only very slightly, at night.

Check it out, It's the latest Crazzzz!!!!!!!!!!

Look at your select level panel when driving at night!! Its easy and has just as much danger as planking.

Even grandma can join in on the fun.
Do it with your neighbor, with a friend.
Entertain everyone, even on coming traffic.

All you have to do is step into your car at night. Turn on the headlights and look down at the select level.

Wow lights!!

Girl - Now i can look down while i ride the stick.
neighbor - I like to watch as on coming traffic makes way.
Friend - Its a great dare while driving at night in the freeway.

I don't think you were trying to be funny, but I laughed when I read this. The concept of someone looking down everytime they shift...or better yet, wanting to...when they have the benefit of glancing at the dash instead. Just struck me as very funny.

Reading this thread again, I think the OP was questioning whether there is a gear indicator that lights up in the console rather than whether the actual letters are illuminated. The topic sort of shifted half way through and became whether the letters are illuminated at all which we have established do but they do not indicate which gear the car is in. That being said, I personally feel if you can't tell what gear your car is in by looking at the shifter position I don't want you anywhere on the road near me in the first place.

Ohh like the cars back in the 80's. Where it had a regular bulb lit under a clear plastic cover and with the PRND printed on top. The select level had a bright orange indicator and it "Lit" under the selected gear.

Is that what you are trying to say?

Like all the lights are lit and when in a selected gear it would light up even more to indicate that you are there?

If I remember right, the 3G lights up under the letter for what gear you are in.
