Int he future, a more descriptive Thread Title would probably be useful.

jnc can weigh in on this one. I was about to do the front end conversion but got word that the bumper support and radiator support had different numbers. Jnc and I will do further research to determine if they are interchange. Obviously you will need the '12 grille assembly

Structurally they may be the same but if you go and buy a 2012 bumper it's not going to fit. The bumper itself is a different shape and so is the grill (the grill is also smaller from left to right). If you wanted to try this you would need the grill, the bumper and the trim that now goes around the grill. If you look carefully you will notice that the bumper goes up past the headlights near the grill on the 2012. On the prior 4th gen TL's, the bumper never came up above the headlights.

you have to get bumper and grill to make it work.. otherwise yes, it will fit... so to all you guys that get into accidents, ask the shop to get a 2012 front end lol! and if you have rear end damage, get the rear as well!

Is this based on assumptions or actual facts?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess the OP is trying to get rid of the grill for a '12 setup.

This will also require a new hood (the '12s extend further)

But the front lower bumper is 1" shorter then previous years so it makes sense that the beam is different as well.

I'm not sure the hood is different. Acura did say that they made no sheetmetal changes. I think the "longer hood" appearance is a function of the body colored piece that is between the hood and the new grille.

Incorrect, the hood is the same size.

uh.. maybe because its just a slightly redesigned model with only bumper changes..

you really think that acura is going to modify the frame just to change the bumper.... i dont think soo....

all they did was change the bumper.. everything else is the same..

its like how acura had it interchangeable with 94 integras and 98 integras.. front bumper and headlights are interchangeable.. i can say the same for 95 civics and 99 civics..

this applies to much more cars that acura and honda made..

The bumper support maybe different to host the new bumper's shortened length.

what about the bumper re-enforcement? wouldn't you think the piece will be different as well because the shape of the bumper is change?

I wouldn't confirm it until it is on the car. i would think that since the 2012 TL is shorter then the previous 09-11, that the bumper support would not stick out as much. thus if you put a 2012 bumper on a 09-11 bumper support, it would in fact push the bumper out.

I think it'll work. I'll scan the diagram for all to see. This would be a pricey mod.

Maybe we should get Acura to recall all the 09, 10, and 11's because by changing the grills on the 12's they are admitting they were defective from an aesthetic point of view?

Apologize for reviving such an old thread, but I did not want to create a new thread and get "l2search replies..."

I just got into an accident in my '09 TL (other driver at fault), and my front end is going to need replacing. I had an RJ grille >_<

Rather than get a new RJ grille and get it fitted and painted (Holy $$$), I was thinking I could just try to get the shop to install 2012 front-end parts. Does anyone know -exactly- which parts must be installed from the 2012 body? My fenders, hood, bumper, grille, headlights, and bumper support beam are definitely going to need replacing, but what about other, less obvious pieces?

Thanks in advance to any responses.

look up nexsons thread.. he has one created just for this swap.

he has done a 09-11 to 12 conversion with parts list. all you need to do is provide it to your repair shop with the parts number and it should all work well

2009 Acura TL

Hello everyone I'm new to the group & I don't know much. But would a 2011 grill, front and rear bumper fit on my '09? from what I've read it looks like it but can I have specifics on any modifications. And can I even put 2012 parts on it? Thanks !

^i dont even have a 4G but just reading the replies in this very thread i came to the conclusion that

09-11 is the same. SO yes, you can do '11 on a '9.

and reading the same very exact replies, i came to the conclusion that you will need '12 bumper, '12 grille, '12 inserts, etc...

fuggin read!

If the normal grill isn't interchangeable without changing the bumper and such, why would the 'sport' grill?

I'm not even sure what you mean by sport grill...

Hi guys, i know this thread is really old but i hope there are still people who are on here often to help me out.

I was wondering if it was possible to put the 2011 front lip on a 2012 bumper. I haven't seen anyone do it, so i wanted to confirm before i spent the money on the front lip

You haven't seen it done because the bumpers are completely different shapes.

There is an OEM kit for the '12-14
