I just bought a used TL sh-awd, and was wondering how I can Bring my M1 shift closer to Redline. It seems to shift at about 6100-6250ish. Does this have anything to do with the ECU? The first owner was an older female. Ive seen videos of auto's getting up to redline without it shifting by itself.

 

I think you would need to have your pedal all the way to floor to get it near the red line since the 2012+ Auto shifts into second gear. Works for me!

 

The 12+ auto will not hit redline in 1st gear no matter what you do. It also won't downshift to 1st at any speed over about 10mph. Definitely my biggest pet peeve about this car.

 

Oh okay, so second gear is good to get a little closer to redline?

 

While at a stand still and in S mode, click the down shift paddle, and if you are WOT it will hold first longer. Remember to anticipate the shift from 2nd to 3rd otherwise it will bounce off redline and lose momentum.

You can downshift to first in a 2012 but you need to be (hard?) on the throttle when you pull the paddle.
