Castrol Engine Oil
Castrol Engine Oil
To maintain my engine's 300k warranty from my dealer, I am required to use Castrol engine oil.
What is the difference between Castrol Edge and Castrol GTX. I know oil is oil, (obviously synthetic blend vs synthetic we have a difference lol) pick the manufacturer and change it every 4-6k or by the MID...not getting into the specifics, I am just curious as to what is the difference.
Thanks!

I'd like to know more about this 300k warranty from the dealer.
It in fact states in the language of the warranty that you must use Castrol oil but doesn't specify anything beyond that?
The language reads, in summarizing the high points:
1. I must use Castrol engine oil (exact weight required)
2. Change oil every 4000 miles or every four months
3. Keep a log of when I purchase air filters and change belts, service other fluids under the hood within spec of Acura's recommended schedule (no problem lol)
4. Stop by once a year to have the dealer inspect the engine.
This is from Car Sense which is a local Huge emporium of 1 time owner vehicles, and they have to be spotless more or less for them to sell on the lot. Essentially its just as good as a Acura CPO. And with the 3.7 L oil issues which pop up from time to time....I have no problem going with Castrol. Ive never heard of an engine problem with using Castrol, and if Castrol is going to stand behind the engine guarantee, they must be good. lol Thoughts???

Castrol makes good oil both dino and synthetic. If I were in your shoes and the dealer is warrantying the car longer than I own it (I've never taken a car to 300k miles), I'd go with whatever is cheapest and complies with the warranty. Why would you spend extra money on something that you have no financial stake in repairing?
Also, most people run 7-10k OCI with synthetics and if you're draining every 4k you're spilling your money in the drain pan if you're paying extra for synthetic.
