2010 TL SHAWD tranny "clunks" from "P" to "D" when cold.

I'm wondering if you can help me out woith something. I park my car on a very slight incline facing nose first. When I shift from Park to Drive it makes a slight clunk or thud noise when cold and doesn't do it anymore after that. Is this within the realm of normal? Thanks.

Yup every day. I'm the last poster on that thread #13. I guess it's normal?

Follow this routine and you'd never hear the clunk, again.

- Pull up to your parking spot.
- While you still have the brake pedal depressed and transmission in "D" engage the emergency/parking brake.
- Switch from "D" to "P" and release the brake pedal.

When ready to drive again, just press the brake pedal, select "D" or "R", disengage the parking brake and start moving.

It may sound cumbersome but you get use to it, I know I did as I was sick of hearing the loud thud every time.

Okay. Thanks guys. It seems to have just started (5700 miles) but then again it may be that I just wasn't aware.

It is def a normal problem. My car sits for weeks most of the time. I find letting it warm up for a while helps also even if its a hot day

I expect the "cluck" comes from the Park safety pin disengaging with pressure against it by being on a downhill slope.

I don't experience that because we have no hill here! I forget what a hill even looks like!

I think this is normal for Honda/Acura cars (although it sounds like something broke internally). We had an Accord that did this every time we pulled out after it was parked on the driveway.... After I figured out the e-brake method, this was a non-issue. The Camry we've got now does not do this and this seems to be a characteristic of Honda/Acura transmissions.
