The current ELS in the 3G does DTS if I recall.

The 07/08 MPG is not real time, it is cumulative. The Accord navi has a trip computer function too, that the TL does not. Seems the TL should have EVERYTHING the Accord has and then some, not less.

I noticed it too - it looks like the one from leftlanenews doesn't have an ELS logo which probably means it doesn't have the tech package. That's a little disturbing because the ELS system was standard on the 3G. Kinda a step backwards?

DVD Audio more than likely.

its probably going to be stepped models like the rdx, mdx and tsx, a base with the regular audio system and a loss of a lot of features (basically non-navi), then there is the tech package with the ELS and navi.

This information is already confirmed by Acura. From the IN posted on my site back on July 16th:
The 2009 TL will be offered in two different packages:

Standard Package Content:
The Standard model is similar to MDX’s rich list of standard features with new luxury amenities and audio capabilities that contribute to the new TL’s added appeal.

Technology Package Content:
The Technology model is similar to the MDX and will continue to “Advance” the image of Acura and includes:
· Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition with new functionality
· AcuraLink Satellite Communication System
· Acura/ELS Surround Premium 10 Speaker Sound System
· Rear view camera

Have youuuu been in a 2004/5/6/7/8 TL? That MPG indicator is ONLY average for the tank since last fill up (providing of course that you manually reset it as you pulled out of the gas station), NOT instantaneous as you drive, which is what the Accord trip computer has had since 2003. Every BMW has had this for at least a decade now.

The Accord trip computer also provides much more detailed information as well. We TL buyers pay $$$$ more and every right to expect at least the same or better functionality, NOT LESS! In today's world of gas pricing, how can they have left this feature out?

THANK YOU. So I guess I am not crazy afterall DMZ. I had an 08 loaner and it had it so naturally I thought the 07's had them too. I should have used more BOLD to prove my point.

My 08 TLS doesn't have this feature either. Only the avg mpg in the trip computer screen. The 08 TSX loaner I drove had this feature, it shows exactly my mpg by how much I push on the gas pedal.

I have a 08' TL-S that I just bought 2 weeks ago, it does NOT have the instant MPG feature that I have found. Only shows average MPG.

WTF? I have a 08 TL that I purchased in November last year. There's a MPG indicator, but it's not an instantaneous one. It'll retain the same tank/reading until you reset it by manually holding down the button.

Where are you getting this info from?

I have an 08 TL-S and my MPG indicator adjusts to the speed I'm driving. So if I'm stuck in traffic and driving slow, it drops to 10 MPG. If I'm on the highway driving at a faster speed, it goes back up to 18-20 MPG. Is this what you guys mean by instantaneous? If so, then it does have this feature.

Are you sure you. My 08 tl-s does not do that. It has an average mpg along with average mph. I only see the mpg change much when it is reset other wise it is around 24-25. I believe it even says avg. in the little screen.

Yes, I'm pretty sure. Only because I saw it go down to 9 MPG while driving one time and I thought what the... Then a few minutes later it went back up to 18 MPG.

In fact I almost got into an accident because I was stupid for staring at it go up and down when I was cruising at 30 - 35 MPH, hah.

Mixture of the MDX and the new Accord. No surprise there. I like it too.

My 07 TL Base Model does this too. Every couple of minutes , depending on the speed I am going, the avg mpg will change, without having to hold reset or manually clear it. It isn't instantaneous though (it doesn't change as you accelerate if that is what some people are thinking it is supposed to do). I would estimate around 2-5 minutes it changes slightly. One time on the way to Las Vegas it read 44mpg for some time, and then normalized to 28mpg after having to go around slower traffic and hills/curves.

Trim work
Push-button start
Steering wheel (sad, right?)

Dislikes:
Navi and it's dash hump of a hood
Giant nipple in the center console
Gear shift so damn close to the console (reminds me of my sister's 06 Civic)
Navi and it's dash hump of a hood (again)

Obviously, these are my own opinions. Yours may vary.

I wonder how the non-navi models look. What will be in place of the dash hump?

Hmm.. well.. couple of ideas

- The nav screen could be replaced with a standard informative LCD screen there [sorta like the current gen; climate control etc. displayed on that screen - like how the current Toyota Avalon is setup - same location, etc. but one has a nav screen, the other just has a basic LCD screen w/ climate / temp control]

- Completely different dash w/o the hump and a completely different radio since the ELS system is said to be part of the nav/tech package

I like the touch screen better. I'm sure it was the lawyers that are responsible for this. You don't need to look "down" to see the nav.

Correct-o; you'll be able to quickly glance at the nav screen [as well as listen to which letter or option you've stopped on]; vs diverting most of your attention to look down and see what the screen says, then pushing the correct button with yer finger

I'm sure the dash will be the same in regards to navi vs non-navi models...wouldn't make financial sense for Acura to develop two dashes.

This is similar to what Nissan / Infiniti does. The touchscreens are much better!

The dash looks the same except there is no push button start and no climate/audio display screen below the CD slot. The navi screen is instead used for the climate/audio displays as in the Accord and TSX.

They may have multiple versions of the system. I know the one mentioned in the now-pulled interview with the Acura Engineer was a 440 (it was 400+, can't remember if it was exactly 440) watt, 10-speaker system. It won't be the same ELS system as in the 3G.

The engineer said that the ELS system in the 3G was so clear at high volumes people complained they couldn't crank the audio. He said, what people usually hate is the distortion at high volumes, so people listening to the ELS wanted it to go even louder when they heard little distortion at high volumes. The 400+ watt system with a couple of more speakers was their answer.

You are correct. I have a DTS CD of Sting and it reads it and says DTS on the center display.
