You want a true sports sedan? Then get yourself a RWD car.

fwiw i do have a rwd car, a g35c. the tl-s was for the winter for the wife so i don't get nervous about her getting stuck in a bad storm. if it wasn't for the tl-s i'd be stuck with an expensive 3 series and i'd have to take back all the things i've said about bmw drivers
notice all the cars you mention have a manual shift option, acura should do the same...

Remember when ALL CARS were RWD. My first 6 vehicles were RWD, including a WS6 Firebird that I drove IN Northern IL winters.

But if these cars were FWD, then I would just have a laugh. Imagine 300-400+hp going through your front wheels?

This is not CAR TALK.
Look at the thread title! We are talking about 2009 TL transmissions.
We are not talking about Toyotas or any other cars/models. These off topic posts waste people's time and are against the forum rules.
We like to let the members take care of things themselves. However, we're not getting very much cooperation in the 4th Generation Forum.
STAY ON TOPIC. If you want to talk random stuff, take it over to Car Talk or Ramblings.

For me...a big fat no. The six speed on a pretty fast car was THE main reason I bought my 3G TL. Just wondering what you guys think...

6MT or nothing, the only thing after that I would need besides the AWD and 300+ hp is a nice supercharger then the car should be golden, 2 doors would be bettdr of course, but I can live with 4.

If the rumors are true that Acura will only have automatic transmissions for both the 280hp FWD and the "uplevel" 310hp 3.7L SH-AWD, and won't have the manual tranny option until 2010, I think that that would absolutely sink sales. I mean, at least when the 3G TL was launched in fall '03, 5 speed ATs were the norm, the cutting edge since 5 speed MTs were still prevalent. These days it's 6 on up. I don't think Honda/Acura has anything higher than 5-speed ATs to offer in the MY09 which make their products look downright antiquated.
As much as I don't like Hyundai and think that their designers killed the Genesis design from the concept in Detroit to the production model, I think that, if priced right, like $39K to $42K for the 4.6L Genesis, that car is absolutely going to eat Acura TL and RL sales, esp. the TL since the RL never really sold that well. If this TL, Acura's bread-and-butter, doesn't take off, Acura's in deep s--t.

Acura needs a 6/7 speed DSG transmission.
One good DSG (like Audi has) will suit everyone's needs.

It's be interesting to see if they offer it in the FWD or SHAWD version or both. Although I can't imagine both since the cost of tooling for a AWD transaxle that is only used on one Acura/Honda product seems like a poor Return On Investment (ROI).

Hopefully we can get the 6spd manual with the SH-AWD. Any of the motors would be fine by me, of course the beefy 300+ hp motor would be ideal. That car would be the preferable all-motor choice to the turbo Subies and Evos running around town. I would hope they (Honda/Acura) would consider this because the styling alone on the new TL has turned off quite a few people.
