2009-2014 Rust (Cold Climate Areas Only)

Hello, i will soon be replacing my 16 year old nearly rust free Toyota that has survived southern Ontarios salt and winters. Ive owned it for around 2 years now and the mileage is getting up there, i have always loved the design of the 2012-2014 TL and wanted to know how they hold up compared to the 2004-2008 Models which i noticed tend to rust pretty bad at the quarter panel area. Did Acura do any deliberate changes to prevent rusting on the next gen? Or will it be a repeat of history? Thanks!

Not sure if Acura did anything different. But I'm also in southern Ontario and I haven't seen any rusty ones.... Yet.

I get mine rust sprayed at krown rust yearly so there's zero rust. Id suggest doing that.

I live in Southern Ontario aswell ive never rust proofed my car. Their is surface rust on the frame but its minor the body itself is mainly rust free except for one spot on the passenger fender which rusted because of a chip i plan on replacing the whole fender. Other than that no signs of rust.

2013 TL in southern Ontario. No rust proofing except the dealer added one at purchase in 2013. Only thing i do is under carriage water at car washes once a month during the salt months. Car is stored indoors evenings and outdoors durning the week. zero rust anywhere.

I live in PA: I have a black 14' TL now, upgraded from a 09' Silver TL 2 years ago. At the time the silver 09' was 10 years old, had a tiny amount of rust forming at the bottom of the left passenger door - fixed it up myself with a color match kit of touch up before trading in. No signs of rust yet on the 14'.

Watch out for the rear fender area. The lip out in the rear catches a lot of roar crap than can cause an issue.
