Rust Proofing Recommended Annually? (Krown - Toronto)
Hi,
I own an 06 TL and I took the car in for rust proofing prior to its first winter (2006).
The rust proofing centre (not Krown) stated that I would need to re-apply it once every 3 years.
Last week I rust proofed it at Krown, which is a place many of you recommended (thanks!).
The Krown representative recommended that I bring my car in annually for re-application.
Because there were customers in the viscinity of the area, I did not want to ask whether it was really necessary or not (since the first place I rust proofed my car at said I only needed to do it once every 3 yrs). I also did not want them to lose any potential business from other customers.
It is important to note that the first time I rust proofed my car, an undercoat application was included where-as the rust proofing at Krown consisted of just that (rust proofing only. No undercoat).
Does this make a difference?
What are all of your opinions?
I live in Toronto and there are harsh winters with plenty of road salt for 3-3.5 months of the year.
Thanks

I would think that it all depends on how you take care of your car. If the protection is put on, and then salt continually stays on there then it's going get eaten through. However if you were to spray down the underside say once every few days it'd last a bit longer.
I don't have any experience with these undercoating systems, but it seems to me that maybe once every 2 years should be good by common sense.

$100 ish for a sedan.
Krown is great as it expands when sprayed and it creeps everywhere displacing water as it goes. So much so, that much of it drips as excess....hence the biannual application for me.
Lubes latches, and other moving parts as well....really a superior product IMO.
