I had my timing belt/wp done today (13’ 6speedw/ 47k). No issue w acceleration.
Dealer recommended these services …

im pretty sure the first FI cleaner is just something they pour into the tank??
air intake and valve cleaning??
hvac BS??
coolant system flush?? When they changed the wp i received new coolant. Can they really remove scale buildup??

just curious what your thoughts are.
thanks.

Lol. Skip all of it.

You don't need any of it. Just use a top tier gasoline. Use good driving habits (avoid short trips and extended idling). Use good oil and maintenance habits.

If you just got coolant flushed when they did the water pump, then obviously a cooling system flush is not needed. As long as you use pre-diluted Honda (POAT) coolant in your car, you'll never have issues with scale.

Scale is usually from someone mixing tap water or drinking water into the coolant. So..don't do that.

Rust can happen the same way, or from over-diluting your coolant.

Curious as to how they'd clean the HVAC system and justify charging $229 to do so.

Fuel additives and cleaners aren't recommended or necessary.

I'd skip doing that yourself too. I guess it theoretically can't hurt. But...why? Its the equivalent of driving near an overhead power line to get more volume from your stereo.

I don't know how they get at the evaporator but I suspect this is supposed to eliminate the "stale air" odor that you get after turning the A/C off.

Redline SI-1 is the most concentrated in regards to PEA's that do the cleaning. Buy a bottle from amazon/ebay and throw it in the gas tank every time you do an oil change. This was the only product that kept my older BMW working well.

HVAC cleaning can be a scam, but it can be worth it too. They normally spray a cleaner down the vents, clean the evaporator core with a foam spray and the drain as well. It can certainly help with moldy/damp smells but most cars will never need one. I'd recommend replacing your own cabin air filter (takes 5 minutes MAX).

Intake/Valve cleaning is a joke, our cars are port injected so the valves stay clean. It's recommended to adjust valve clearances every 60-105K depending on driving habits. With such low mileage, you are fine. If it was direct injection, then the only valve cleaning that ACTUALLY works is walnut shell blasting (google BMW carbon removal, walnut blasting). Most of the chemical products are snake oil unless you really let them soak in like the BG engine cleaner and flush kit, but that's for REALLY badly abused engines.

Brake fluid should be replaced every 3 years MAX. Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time and can start rusting the brake system from the inside out.
