Appears to be a horrible paper cone 8” / 2 ohm woofer. Going to attempt to replace it with another 2 ohm with a high sensitivity and see if it helps at all.
Have a JL 12” in a flat box going into the cargo cutout, but would prefer to just use this if passible.

Finally had a chance to post a pic of the finished product. Hid the amp in the space that the factory “sub” was in. 12” slim JL box fits perfectly in cargo cutout. Sounds amazing.
Juuust fit - used Velcro to attach on the bottom so I could remove if we need to. Barely fits but it does. Bass knob mounted under parking brake. Juuuuust fit.
Nicely done! I have a quick question for you. Where did you get the input for your amp? I'm assuming you used the two wires from the stock sub, but what did you use to lower the input to preamp levels to then feed into your amp?
I have that same subwoofer (had it in my last car), and I'd like to reuse it. I'd need to buy an amp since I left the amp in my last car since I didn't feel like ripping everything out.
My main concern is how to best to feed the subwoofer signal into the amp. Can you explain how you did it?

After having it for a bit - I don’t enjoy it as much as a more standard rear firing sub with a larger enclosure, but it’s excellent for the limited space that it takes up.
Thanks for the info, I was jus looking at couple of powered sub from Crutchfield, one sealed and one ported, according to the their tech the ported will sound better but the problem is both are out of stock.

Hi Joe, The Sub I choose with built in amp won't fit the space, I think I will go with your set up but when you say you don't enjoy it as much, could you please explain what's wrong with this setup, is it too much bass ?

Yeah its really good for the space/cost.
Compared to a more traditional (larger) sub enclosure, the bass isn't quite as tight and you don't feel it quite as much.
If I didn't need the 3rd row as much - I'd definitely go with a more traditional enclosure with more volume in the box.
Hi Joe,
Sorry to bother you again, I am having problem wiring the Positive wire from the battery to the inside of MDX, I cannot find a rubber bushing where i can insert the wire thru to go inside and under the dash, could you please advise me how you did it and will really appreciate if you have pictures. Thanks
Hello, I have a same MDX , i'm trying to install sub and amp . how did you install? because some one told me that if install amp and sub there is battery warning light pop out.

No! just installed sub and amp and i need to open window little bit and will be ok but cannot closed all window because noise sensor and its killing me.
do you know how to disable?
Same problem here, I tried looking for the ASC module behind the glove compartment but could not find it, there's a couple of box behind it and i try disconnecting it but still got the Humming sound
I shouldn't bought the 2022 MDX because of the ANC. I went to several stereo shops but cannot locate the ANC.Some installer told me that just go to dealer and ask locate the ANC .
I tried to bypass the ANC but cannot because if bypass the ANC my sound camera won't work. i got adv pkg and just install sub but i need to open window little bit and listen to the music.
if i closed all window and play music?? hmmmmm sound coming out .
I got the Tech package so no sound camera and mine work fine, maybe you can rewire the camera to another power source so you can remove the ANC fuse, I am also curious cause usually camera and ANC should have their own fuse.

Hi - Bumping this thread to see if anyone can tell me how to remove the carpeted subwoofer baffle/cover. I tried to pry it off with a trim removal tool but it’s not budging and I don’t want to break any clips. Thanks for any tips on where I should pry to get this baffle off. Thanks.
