Wheel locks for the Type S Advance

Hi,

Just got the MDX Type S Adv. about 2-3 weeks now and love it! Love the drive and everything about it! One thing I don't really enjoy is the MPG Lol!

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has wheel locks on their wheels and would you kindly provide the OEM part no. for it? I ordered some genuine Acura wheel locks and realized that the nuts are smaller than the nuts that's on the MDX. :/

Thanks!

I don't know if the Type-S wheel locks are 14mmX1.50 thread size. I used Gorilla 38641N Honda/Acura Ball chrome wheel locks on my 19 MDX Sport Hybrid. Works perfectly for the last 3 years since installation. Acura and Discount Tires always had a wheel key for the OEM wheel locks; but, not for the Gorilla brands.

My dealer gave me these in black. Seem excellent and received a duplicate key in a couple of days after registering the serial #. Mcgard

You just need to double-check to make sure any aftermarket wheel locks for Honda/Acura rims are the Ball (curved) type and not the conical/tapered type. Not recommended to use conical/tapered with Acura OEM rims with ball type lugs. Tons of aftermarket wheel locks for conical/tapered and most aftermarket rims use conical/tapered lugs.

I ordered the same wheel lock as yours, but somehow the wheel lugs on my car is bigger than the locks I ordered. I'll take a picture side by side to compare.

Hello All
I went the path of the OEM "McGard" locks and they are horrendous. Had a tire repair they torqued to over 400ft/lbs when Honda/Acura vehicles are 95. Repair tech tried to loosen and the head sheared right off the Key. The repair facility ordered 2 replacements and sheared them both. They eventually were able to remove and it took half a workday. A better choice are the Gorilla 38641N.

Gorilla has multiple series of locks available including X2 with a free spinning outer that you cannot bang a socket to remove if key lost. Just my two cents.

Alas the ball seat wheel lock market is very narrow.
Gorilla 38641N Gorilla 38641N
is the safer choice, unfortunately the McGards can be removed with a Walmart tool that you hammer onto the shaft then turn open.

Now for the cone seat aftermarket wheels we have the wonderful
Gorilla 61641 Gorilla 61641
, a thief's true nightmare as the outer walls have rolling sleeves making them immune to the above method.
White/oyster Type S Adv arrives on Saturday, 20" gunmetal O-Z HypertXT HLT with Blizzaks arrived yesterday. Ordered
69mm Acura center caps 69mm Acura center caps
, hope they fit as the 68mm the O-Zs came with wobble a bit.

OMFG I am so excited for the MILF, wife gets the Acura, I stick to my Model 3 low rider.

Are Acura MDX wheels being stolen often enough to use wheel locks?

To a determined thief, wheel locks will not help one bit. It might slow them down a bit and steal your rims without wheel locks instead of mine if we are parked next to each other. I can see a H.S. kid stealing the MDX Type-S rims to add to their modified 2011 Civic coupe with a huge rear wing. I've had my aftermarket Acura valve stem covers (with the Acura logo) stolen from my vehicles before. I just keep spares and it is nice know a future Acura owner is out there in a few years.
