Rear bumper protector

The 2022 MDX does not have a bumper. My old MDX had a scuffed and damaged bumper from people hitting my car while parallel parking. The issue with the 2022 MDX is that it doesn't have a bumber. I have already seen a 2022 MDX that hit something or got hit something and the rear metal hatch door was actually quite damaged. To protect against this I leave my trailer hitch on. I notice that other drivers give me lots of space. And a l lot of times, other cars do no park behind me if other spaces are available, In other words people avoid parking behind me if there are other parking spots available.

E92, That's pretty Smart.. However, I think in my case, the car that "kissed" my rear bumper when making a presumed U turn to turnaround in the blocked street, hit the rear driver's side corner of the bumper which pushed out that upper panel. As my body shop told me, that rear Bumper wraps around from side to side. The Kiss was enough to push the side piece out of position which is faastenedd with plastic clips. I didn't think to pursue what another poster said: Have the Body Shop take the bumper off, take the dimple out (there is no paint damage), repair the bend in the wraparound panel (if that can be done), and reinstall with new fastening clips. TBD.

It amazes me how feel it is ok to scuff someone’s bumper as part of parking!

It's interesting. Two questions: 1. Will frame damages be caused if the trailer hitch is hit by a car? 2. Will the rear camera function be affected by the trailer hitch? Thanks.

Rear camera works find and no issues with the parking sensors. The trailer hitch is fastened quite securely to the frame rails. It can take a lot of force. The car hitting me is going to lose a radiator. People don't park behind me unless they absolutely have to.

Dealer installed? Did they install the transmission cooler too? Just wondering as my dealer said he was still waiting for coolers on backorder since April.

The hitch is dealer installed. I don't have the transmission cooler. I only have the hitch for a 4 tray, Thule bike rack. The tow ball is installed when the bike rack in not on to protect the bumpers.

It looks like U-Haul is much cheaper than a dealership to install hitches. I am considering getting one.

WeatherTech makes 'soft' thingeebobber that plugs into the hitch that has a bit of give that might lessen damage to a slow hit...
