Acura MDX build quality
I am about to lease a 2023 MDX A-Spec. I am getting the car from a small local dealer that gave me the best price but they had to order the car in the color combo my wife and I agreed on. It is gray with the black interior. I liked the red interior but it was too intense to my wife's eyes.
Unfortunately, I read some horror stories about misaligned interior and exterior panels some 2022 and 2023 MDX reported by some owners.
Since the car was ordered for me, I will not have much of a choice if the car has any issues. My only choice will be to take black on black that, IMO, would be a great color combo for the type-S but seems too aggressive for the base MDX.
Anyway, please share your experience with 2023 MDX build issues (if any) . What to look for and where to expect problems? I would also appreciate any advise for how to deal with such issues. Should I allow the dealer to fix them or it is better to insist on another car.
Any information or advice is greatly appreciated.

What horror stories? Honestly misaligned panel is not the end of the world, just not befitting to a supposedly premium luxury brand.
I have heard, and see misaligned hood on my car, where the middle pointy crease does not align with the one on the bumper. Other than that, the exterior panels align well enough. Interior wise, no misalignment just some inconsistency between the left and rear front doors where on one side, I can see the glued or stapled spots on the leather. The air vent on one of the panels also emits ticking noise under certain conditions, but the noise goes away with a gentle push on the vent.
Overall, the build quality on my car is reasonable for an Acura. Better than RDX, but worse than for example Japanese made 1G TSX. Nowhere near BMW. Your mileage will vary, though.

Have a 2023 Type S Advance with no body panel issues-fit and finish are fine.
Two issues have arisen-the panoramic sunroof shade was inoperable-the dealer replaced the motor. I just passed 5,000 miles and the maintenance minder reports 50% oil life however the A 1 service indicator has appeared (oil change and tire rotation). Called Acura Corporate and they say maybe the maintenance minder is defective-called dealer to find out if they have seen anything like this before (usually oil change is indicated when maintenance minder is at 15%). Awaiting dealer response.

By horror stories I meant something lie this - https://www.mdxers.org/threads/2022-...el-gap.174619/
For me it would be more than enough to disqualify the car. It is interesting, that our previous cars were exactly those you mentioned as examples of car wit a great build quality.
My wife had 2013 Acura TSX built in Japan that had absolutely no build or any other issues even at 7 years old with 70 miles on the odometer.
We traded it to 2018 RDX and I was very surprised that rear doors were not even with C-pillars. One was slightly above the C-pillar, the other slightly below.
My current, soon to go, 2020 BMW 540 has no build issues whatsoever as 4-5 BMWs I owned in the past. I just not ready to accept $60K car with build issues.
Let's see what happens. The car should be at my dealer's in two weeks.

Build issues are not acceptable though. If I see any major gaps or panels misalignment, I will refuse the delivery.

For sure do not take the car if the gaps bother you. TBH, I would not accept delivery if my car is anywhere like the photos on that thread. Sadly, that is Acura's standard of build quality in recent years, but from what I saw on the lot, the panel alignment of Acuras seems improved some time in the last year.

Thank you. It does seem, though, that most build issues are reported for the A-Spec trim. They maybe taking a special care of the Advance trim, since it is the top trim.

Personally I doubt the level of trim on the MDX makes any difference as to the Quality Control at Acura unless it was the PMC editions that they used to produce. Just my opinion though. Hope you enjoy your new MDX. We've had ours for about 15 months and have been very pleased with it.

Got my A-Spec yesterday. I checked and rechecked it - no build issues. Yes, build quality wise, it is no BMW but good enough and with expected reliability (I may keep it or pass t to my wife after end of lease) I am happy.

My 2022 MDX now has 92,000 miles on it with no engine issues in 13 months. Only issue I had was a faulty sunroof shade Moter about 30 days in and service department replaced it immediately.

Wait am I reading that right? You drove 92K miles in 13 months? That's almost 300 miles per day...

Since 2020 I've owned a (all were new) BMW X3 M40i, Acura RDX Advance, Chevy Colorado pickup, 3 Honda Passports, Kia K900, Kia Stinger and a
Mercedes GLC 300. Each and every one had its build and quality issues. I currently own a 2022 Mazda CX5 (non turbo) and one of the 3 Passports.
The Mazda has no issues that I've spotted so far. I know issue will come and I expect them. Point being........All manufacturers have quality issues and problems.
ALL OF THEM. Tomorrow I trade my 2022 Passport for a 2023 Acura MDX N/A Advance package and I absolutely, positively expect problems and issues sooner or later.
I love new vehicles and have learned to live with the issues.
(sorry for the sentence spacing)

My 2022 MDX just passed 101,000 without any issues so far. Yes, you read that right, 100K, I drive ALOT! At lease nothing engine related. I did have to have the sunshade Moter replaced 3 weeks after i bought it but that was under warranty. other than that, it has not been to the garage other than Maintenace.
